This awful noise has been going on and I thought it was just the tacoma ticking. But its gotten way worse.

Hate to say it, but sounds like knocking. I would get leak down test done and see if it's salvageable. Cheapest remedy is usually a new engine if the cylinder walls are too marred and can bored out and filled with larger piston heads (or stock if possible).

Sounds very similar to what you have going on, but not as severe.
Have you noticed any powerloss since this started?

I'm not trying to freak you out, just sounds similar to alot of knock I've heard. Hopefully I'm wrong and a taco wiz can school me.

    Runs like an absolute champ.

Was talking it over with my buddy at his gun shop and one of the recular customers comes in and he happens to me a chrysler master tech. So we go for a drive and have a look. He sais its lifter tap. Throw seafoam in the oil and in the tank drive 300 miles then change the oil and run lucas.

So thats what im doing for now. He sais I definately dont need a motor. Its already quieter.

I also have an appointment scheduled at a good shop next week.

Oh yeah. His first question was if the truck sat for a while. Just so happens I was gone for two months. Just got back 3 days ago. So. Idk

Not sure how it could be a stuck lifter considering the 4.0l has solid buckets instead of hydraulic lifters.

He somehow ended up with 2 threads but according to his post in the other thread he has a manual.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Sucks man. Sounds like all the things I said before I dropped $10k on a 5.3 for my Silverado.

Haha yeah. Kinda spooked about it. If we do a new motor we are getting a super charger.

2 months is nothing. I spent 2 years in Japan while in the military and had an S-10 in storage the whole time. Came home and fired up the 4.3 and it purred like a kitten. Your noise sounds bad IMO. Think it going to take more than a can of Seafoam I am afraid.
