I've caught trout on wooly buggers at the club lake.

Mind you, I've never owned a fly fishing rod.
I put a wooly bugger on a six foot leader behind a water bobber and cast it way the fuck out there.
Then reel it in, real slow.
Hey, when nothing else is working, try something stupid...

How is that different than what comes installed?

 

The installed one is slightly noisy, has plastic buckles (can be noisy) and it has a backrest that hooks to the tree; I ain't got time for that.

Sounds like you need to train the deer better. I used to hunt on a farm that you drove the tractor around to different spot, because they were used to the sound.
