Title, its an 2012 tacoma prerunner trd sport that I just picked up but only came with one key. I've read some odd things like homedepot being able to cut blanks, and the fob easily programmed through an key-insert pattern, but does the truck have an immobilizer chip in the key that also needs to be programmed elsewhere? Thanks!

If you have a V6 then yes your truck has an immobilizer and the key will need to be programmed to the truck after being cut or it will not start it.
Your key will either have a dot or a G stamped into the blade if it is a chipped key, you will need to get the correct one.

There is probably a locksmith in your town that will do it. I've had multiple spares made for most of my vehicles. The place I use cuts the key and programs it. It's been a while, but IIRC the last one cost me about $30.

whoa $30? I'll look around! I actually thought itd at least be $200 from a locksmith minimum, and 500 or so from the stealership.

Also just to avoid opening another thread, do you guys know what part this white clip is? My idiot gorilla sized hands broke it when reaching back for the last coil
