looks like a 44 driver drop, asked him for Matériels number etc… hoping it doesn’t have vaculock but I’m having issues researching what vaculock looks like on the axle itself. Visual learner here lol

I think the vacuum one had a more pronounced squared section on the cover. But the picture isn't very clear on my phone.

Here, found this picture on a Google search to show the D44 vacuum disconnect front axle.

If the dusty files in my head are correct:

If the rear is from the same vehicle they are from a 1973 to 79 full size Wagoneer or Cherokee. AMC/Jeep used the Dana 44 front and rear during those years, notice that the rear is offset as well. These trucks used the GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission along with the Borg Warner Quadratrack 1305/1339 full time transfer case with or without the optional low range. Also optional but less commonly found was a Dana/Spicer Model 20 part time manual transfer case.

All manual transmission applications came with the part time transfer case.

In 1980 AMC/Jeep switched to Chrysler Torqueflight automatics and New Process transfer cases along with the AMC model 20 centered rear axle. The Dana 44 was still used in the front however the differential swapped sides. Front axle disconnects weren't used until about 1982 or 83 if I remember correctly.

2 door Cherokees were offered in a standard track and wide track version, with the wide track using the J10 pickup truck axles along with flared fenders. All Wagoneers were standard tracks. The front rotor (6 lug) is the same as a full size Chev 1/2 ton truck or Blazer.

okay so if the same vehicle it looks like it supposed to be a passenger drop pumpkin. Looking for a driver drop which is an 80s model. Hard to tel from spring perches since they also used spring under on some applications. Solid axle tech is a lot to learn lol

All 73 and up SJ Wagoneers/Cherokees/J10 were spring under in the front, spring over in the back.

Full size Jeeps went to driver side drop in 1980.
Both axles are upside down in the photo, the axle is a driver drop.

Something is strange here, IF these are from a big Jeep -- the only two combinations available were:
73-79 offset Dana 44 rear, passenger drop Dana 44 front
80-up centered AMC model 20 rear, driver drop Dana 44 front, 83 and up added the vacuum operated axle disconnect on some models.

The photo appears to show the 73-79 rear and an 80-up front... Hmm, something is odd here.
Chev and Dodge also used the Dana 44 front, I don't know enough about either to comment further on identifying them except the Dodge will have 5 lug hubs, the Chev 6 like the Jeep.

Many sellers don't really know too much about big Jeeps and a lot of mix and match can happen in 40-50 years so what the seller says it came out of might not really matter.

We’ll if it’s upside down it looks like a low pinion to me which isn’t what I’m looking for. I’m gonna research and see if any years had high pinion w/o the vaculock. So tempted to just spend the money on a trail gear true width. Lots of info in my head getting all meshed together lol. You’ve helped a lot though I appreciate all the feedback

here’s another picture I forgot to post as well

Glad to lend a hand, I don't know much about the new stuff -- had a pile of big Jeeps back in the day however.
(that is how I taught myself to weld )

Amazing how crappy the pictures sellers take, it doesn't cost anything to take and post a picture so why.... :frusty:
