Over the years I've had a couple Polar heart rate monitors, the kind with a chest strap that transmits to a simple watch. Having apparently worn out my last one, I started looking for a new one, but the chest strap / watch combo is practically non-existent, except for a few cheapies that I wouldn't trust.

Can anyone recommend where I can get this type monitor? I find plenty that transmit to a smart phone, or are "smart" watches, but I don't want either of those. Just want a simple monitor. Would even consider the type watch that has touch points where you place two fingers to get your pulse.

    TIA

I think you just need a watch and monitor that support ANT+. My garmin fenuz does ant+, but I haven’t bought an external one for it

Thanks DEADBEEF. I was thinking about getting a chest strap transmitter and watch receiver, but the different communication protocols confuse me. So if the transmitter AND the watch both support ANT+, then they should work together? Seems like years ago, each brand had it's own proprietary systems.

I've got Omron model HR-100CBX Rev F monitors... watch with chest strap. Had them for years with no issues... not sure if they're still available though.

I use a simple FitBit. Connects to your phone for details but for just keeping track it works fine.

Honestly OP I second the recommendations to stick with the Polar chest strap. I found one on FB marketplace last year that someone had gotten for Xmas years ago and never opened. No regrets!
