Fuel Pump Running on cold truck???

This morning I drove my 2021 SR-5 to town- about 30 mi. round trip, got home, parked the truck and went about my day. About 6 hours later I went into the garage, and I hear a motor running. Soon found out it was from my truck. After listening, it was near the gas tank, a constant electric motor running. I opened the filler cap, heard a "woosh" of air and the motor stopped. Just wondering what's going on with that. Must have been the fuel pump. BTW it was cold in the morning 10 deg. and 40 deg. when the pump was running. Any ideas??

 

Normal, not the fuel pump and part of the emissions system on the truck. It’s detailed in the owners manual.

I had the same question a few years ago, asked the service advisor (still under warranty at the time) and they looked at me like I had two heads! As far as I can tell, this is in lots of Toyotas (my wife’s hybrid sienna even does it).
