9" wide is well, pretty wide. Most of us have 16" or 17" that are 7 or 8 inch wide. what offset are they?

I see in your personal info section that it says 2wd base. Is your truck a 5 lug?!

Those definetly will not fit if your truck is at stock height and if you have doubled the size of your wheel well

I've got a 2.7 and have been wanting to put some larger tires on it, and keep hearing this kind of thing. What puts the extra strain on the engine? Is it more the diameter than the weight?

Weight will be the biggest thing but more width also increases the rolling resistance

Its a combo of both. And it affects all engines, but it will hit an older 4-banger especially hard.

    • Bigger diameter wheel is the equivalent of a taller gear. Imagine trying to accelerate in 2nd gear, then imagine doing that with the heaviest amount of cargo that you have loaded your truck with. (Some people solve this by regearing their differentials.)
    • Bigger wheel means more rotating mass. It sucks the energy (and gas money) right out of your engine.

biggest tires you can fit on a stock 5 lug is 235/75/15. that is a 29" tire that is 9 inches wide. These tires you want to put on are 31.5" tall and 10.5" wide. Not to mention that the wheels are extremely wide. Here is a thread to read up on.

I'm guessing pizza cutters would be better where this is concerned.

Yes, but weight is the big thing.
