If you had a 2020 TRD Off Road Premium would you trade for a 2019 TRD PRO?

No. However, if I was outrageously rich, maybe. However, if I was outrageously rich I’d give the Offroad to the gardener and add a Range Rover to the fleet.

No. I would have bought the one I wanted in the first place.

What's difference from the 2020 or and the 2019 pro that would make you want to trade?
    Less miles, better suspension, etc....?

No way. I love the look of the Pro, but love my 2020 with low mileage. Moreover I'm eventually going to replace the entire suspension, wheels and tires so no sense in me personally going older only to replace everything that makes a Pro a Pro.

Seeking unmodded Pro with stock Fox suspension mainly. Not interested in making any mods myself.

    2020 (white) has 34,000 miles.
2019 (black) has 47,000 miles and new KO2s.

Dealer very open to making deal.

I'd say IF you only want the PRO for the fox suspension and not really any other reason, don't go upside down thousands of dollars on a trade. You can find the suspension components (or better) for much less than you'd probably lose doing a trade, have lower mileage, know the vehicle history, and be confident in what you have.

On the flip side, the used and new car market is a whirlwind right now. If the PRO was what your heart always desired, and the dealer can give you back what you paid for your 2020, or more, the deal would be plausible. Then again, don't be naive enough to not realize the 2019 will also be marked up more than it "should" be.

Moral of the story, be realistic about what you want. If your heart desires a PRO and you can't sleep at night without having that badge, go for it. If your heart desires the suspension or wheels, you can save yourself alot of money keeping your 2020 and finding the parts elsewhere.

Toyota dealerships near me quoting around $6000 for Fox suspension and install. Also, seem very timid on the phone in their ability to do such a job. Local shops that do suspension upgrades are mainly pushing out ridiculous lifted vehicles or squatters. (shop is full of young guys). My confidence is not high with them and my gut says ANY changes to a stock vehicle always ruins the ride. Thus, my looking into this “backwards trade.”

For me to agree really depends on the salesman on the phone agreeing that they could lower their asking price because they really need to move it and hit their quotas AND how much they offer in trade value for my 2020. (Their computer says high end is $45,000)

hang around this forum long enough, plug into your region's regional BS thread, and you'll have a handful of guys itching to get together for the price of pizza and beer to help you with any kind of install. I've gotta ask, have you driven the PRO and felt the suspension? I'm not saying its not nice, but you can have even better for far less than $6000. At the very least, you should give a couple calls to some of the reputable suspension vendors around here and talk through what you're wanting. At least then, you'd have an idea of what the cost to upgrade suspension "should" realistically be, and then you'll have options. Again, trading only for suspension isn't worth it. Often times we cling to those little things because we just really want to say we have a PRO, and thats honestly okay too. Its your money to spend, and your life to enjoy. Don't let me talk you out of it, if its what you want; just sharing options

This is exactly why I posted here. I can scour YouTube, forums, Reddit, Facebook groups, visit body shops, dealerships and still not feel like I have enough information. Thanks.

I think I will still visit the dealership to talk numbers and see how it drives.

    Ya think???

Newer, lower milage truck swapped for an older, higher milage truck? Where's the downside for the dealer? This is like taking candy from a baby...

you can get Kings, Icon rear springs, camburg UCA’s and rims/tires for that 6k lol.

I wouldn’t trade in, shop around online for suspension buy it and find a person/ship to install it for you.

what part of the country are you from? Someone may be able to chime in for a local installer.

I can't recall with 4runner, but entune 2 vs entune 3 is a deal breaker for me.

Carplay or bust. I hate factory nav.

I've swapped every suspension imaginable on Toyota trucks, there's no reason to be concerned.

The bigger headaches are the xreas systems on the limited and sport models.

I know the feeling buddy, I've hoarded info from this forum for years. I will say, whether you ever intend to touch a wrench or not, don't be unwilling to learn as much as you can. I don't know many people, even on TW (and theres no shortage of assholes around here) that aren't willing to help someone whos genuinely eager to learn. Simply learning how suspension works, the different aftermarket parts available, OEM parts, why some parts work better with others, etc will give you a leg to stand on when a money hungry dealer tries to take advantage of you. I do recommend visiting your dealer to drive the PRO, but please take anything they tell you with a grain of salt. In the end, they want your money; us around here have nothing to gain or lose talking you in or out of spending money; we just enjoy our Toyotas.
