As mentioned, a recall to have them shortened. This was due to the guy who crashed and killed himself and three passengers (Toyota Camry).
It was reported "the gas peddle stuck" and they have 911 call which is horrifying.

    Toyota got sued and paid.

Fast forward, many experts agree, the driver was actually smashing the accelerator thinking he was applying brakes. Not trying to start a debate... just reporting what I have read.

the harder it is for your foot to find the gas pedal has to be good for MPGs, I imagine

    Try this instead..

Step 1 - remove oil cap

Step 2 - park Prius underneath oil cap

    Step 3 - re-install oil cap

This. Same as the goons at GM who decided it was cheaper to pay out for some deaths rather than fix their faulty ignitions.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
When I had my 2011 at the dealer when all that craziness was going on they would ask if I wanted the gas pedal TSB and I refused. I would even leave a post it stuck to the dash stating NOT to cut my pedal. I had rugged ridge floormats so it was not an issue. Eveytime I would pick it up they would have removed my drivers floormat and put it in the rear floorboard.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Toyota still has a major boner for floor mats. My 6 mos old TRD is at the dealer today. This morning at drop off, they seemed more concerned about my fucking Weathertech floor mats than the issue for which I brought it in! And I swear to GOD, if they fuck with the air pressure in my tires again, I'll go full Karen on them. Every single time I go in, my truck comes back with 1 or 2 tires at 41psi, one at 38, and one at 32. o_O:censored:

There was also a flash update to the ecu at the same time to kill the throttle if the gas pedal was depressed and the brakes were applied.
    So
    No more power braking.
I did hundreds of these and all because of morons putting up to 5 floor mats on the floor.
I went through a shit load of saw blades….

If there is more than one floor mat and or the one is not secured it will
Be removed and put in the back.
    Don’t blame them. It’s corporate and that’s it…

One of my family members bought a brand new 14 Corolla and they refused to include floor mats with it.

This. When our '05 had the TSB (or was it a recall?) done, I already knew about pedals being cut so I procured a new pedal assembly just in case. As it turned out, neither my wife nor I noticed any problem with the cut pedal so I never installed the new one. The reflash turned out to be a good thing. My cruise control had been an absolute POS, worst I have had in any vehicle, and after the reflash it functioned better. Not as well as others but acceptable.

They never give you the full story on reflashes.
So we had no idea besides what situation we were flashing for..

Sure looks like a hacky fix to me!

I agree, as long as you have room to react. A friend of my Dad's owned a car-wash. One of his sons was pulling a car out and it stuck. By the time he could react, he ran over a kid.

I think sometimes it takes a second to realize what's happening.

I remember asking if the reflash was responsible for the improved CC. The tech had no idea..... but the change was obvious, and no other work had been done.

My mother has a newerish Prius. It has hooks sticking up on the floor, I assume for Toyota floor mats so there would be no possible way for them to move.

I couldn't imagine having more than one floor mat installed. o_O

As you probably know, the Weathertechs are direct replacement for the 'yota Taco mats. They use the same twistlock devices to keep them from moving but the campaign is just such a prevalent thing still, it's the second item written in on the estimate/diagnosis sheet and third is always the tire pressure check initiative. I just got in from picking up my Taco. They had to put a Mastertech on it to register the MB ECU and then program the fobs.
