I bit the bullet and put 265/75/16 KO2’s on my stock 2021 Taco SR5 4x4. I love the tires and they are crazy good off road. And quiet on road. And they look awesome (in my opinion). However, tonight I took a sharp U turn to the left and when my passenger front tire hit a bump, I swear I heard tire rub. I looked for visible rub marks, but didn’t see any. I’ll check tomorrow when it’s light. Any ideas??

Do you have front mudflaps on?

For 265/75r16 I had to do the pinchweld mod and heat/mold the fender liner back a little bit.

I’m skeptical your 32’s are rubbing, but I had a few similar experiences with my skinny 33 255/85r16’s. I had the truck aligned by a 4x4 shop and haven’t had a problem since.

That is an optional stock size, it should not rub as far as I know. ( I don’t know much though). Unless maybe you bottomed out the suspension.

It’s one inch greater in diameter than the stock tire that comes on the TRD trims.

Should be plenty of how to's here on pinch weld mod. Also can find it on YouTube.

Basically you set back the fender liner at rear, hammer the pinchweld flat. Then use a heat gun to bend/mold the fender liner away from the tire.

Mine would only make contact at full stuff. Didn't have any rubbing until I went off road.

It sounds like it's only rubbing when you're at full lock and stuff it.

Where possible try and recreate the turn and angle into a driveway or parking lot with a decent ramp and try to find the rub (full lock to the left). You may have to increase the speed because I'm guessing doing a U turn you had some good lean going on.

Try to align it out with caster before you start taking a mallet to sheet metal. If it rubs in back (I'm guessing the inside passenger tire is rubbing against the fender well or mud flap) ask for positive caster at the alignment shop.

Also, there is a good chance that this is an edge case, and it may be nothing to worry about unless you do full speed U turns often since it didn't leave any visible scuffing.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Put some type of chaulk coating on the insides around the flaps and such and see if it rubs off. That should tell you.

Make sure that whatever you use can be washed off later. Maybe some green painters masking tape. Peels off easy and does not leave residue.

Get into a parking lot and do a bunch of hard turns, and also some braking to make the nose drop a bit while in a turn. Check your tape after.

Check for rub marks under the top portion of the passenger side fender. The top of the tire might have made contact when you hit the bump while making the sharp U-turn. The SR suspension is low and soft so that can happen when the tire gets stuffed from hitting a bump.

Could be. I wheel my truck fairly hard and I don't rub with 285's and I stuff the tires. Worst thing that has happened so far is my body mounts failed from off-roading. (Need to take it a little easier in the trails.o_O)

Look at the side of your UCA. It could be rubbing the inside of your tire. If it's minor, I wouldn't worry about it, UNLESS you're doing a lot of Off Roading

Although anything is possible, I’m skeptical you are getting rubbing with that size tire. It’s only 1” taller than stock and the same width as stock. I haven’t heard of people having rubbing them issues until they get up to 33s and only with the wider 33’s (e.g. 285).

I’m not familiar with KO2’s, but I can definitely feel my Dick Capek mud terrains when I turn them at slow speed on hard surfaces. Ive never noticed a grabbing sound like you describe though.
