Milwaukee Tools

I gotta get me one of those.
Have a pretty beefy 12vdc power supply under my workbench that runs an XM car tuner (lifetime sub) that is part of the shop stereo and a USB/12v power port.

 

$60 for the 5A model, it is great so far. Also it is a switching supply so efficiency is good. I also have the 10A, no probs with it either and it has run 8A of yard lighting for a few months from sunset to sunrise now lol.

M12 surge is most likely my favorite Milwaukee tool, close runner up is the m12 pin nailer.

Own m18 hex, m18 surge and M12 surge…hex barley sees the light of day, really only comes out for cabinet installs when I’m running 3-4 different bits and I’ll just dedicate a drill for each

 

I really wish the Buy more Save more deal included more of the fringe FUEL tools, and or the free tool had a value voucher. If I could just mix and match a little more to get the M12 surge kit at a lower price… The M12 caulk gun on either of these “deals” would help make my decision a lot easier.

It seems like advice from everyone is that the M12 surge is the way to go, and it seems to fits my needs 90% and the 10% can be filled by the FUEL impact wrench for driving large items.

 

Anybody have some experience with this compressor?

 

Not on the Milwaukee but my cousin runs the dewalt version….it’s handy when needed, but not really needed. We are 90% battery at this point

I think we use it the most when hanging insulation, battery staplers have a long lag between firing, air powered are instant

for a couple more dollars you can get the m18 Brad nailer and m12 pin nailer and basically have no need for the compressor

 

I know it approaches sacrilege but I converted that m12 light to run off a 12V plug and it was entirely straightforward. I used a Switchcraft power jack that breaks ground on the internal battery connection before it makes the external positive voltage connection. This allows one to plug in external power even with a battery installed with no risk of accidentally subjecting the battery to externally driven current. Seems to work great.

1.41 cfm and 33% duty cycle for $170, eh I'm good

 

The Napa Maxi Trac is advertised at 300L/min or 10.6 CFM at 0 psi. Applying the chineseium fudge factor and it's still good for about 5.3 CFM, or four times as fast as the Milwaukee. The Milwaukee is good for inflating tires without running the engine. That's about it.

 

My local HD did a floor reset this weekend. Tons of red chainsaws, blowers, weedeaters, etc all stocked to the ceiling! Bundle sales soon!?

Also saw the M12 shopvac + 6AH battery combo for $119 or $129... Almost carried it out the door, but I used my better judgement since I've already got the M18 version in my every day kit.

 

Yeah, unfortunate. For what you pay for Milwaukee you might as well get a Viair or Arb.

This surge is the only Milwaukee tool I’ve owned that looks to have a replaceable bumper over the housing. Interesting.

 

Anyone got intel on the M18 track saw release date in the US?

 

I used the M12 surge impact today, was not disappointed at all! Had to sink some 3.5” deck/ construction screws through 2x4 into 4x4 pressure treated and it didn’t think twice just drove them home!

I have to demolish a section of brick and block in my next house renovation I think the M18 SDS max hammer/chisel will be a great purchase to have and to hold.

 

Better to have and not need, than to need and not have!

 

Picked up the brad nailer a few nights ago.


Never owned a cordless nailer. This thing kicks ass! I guess I need the finish nailer now, right?

 

I actually just picked up the 23ga pin nailer myself. Saving me a ton of time already, also loving no air compressor running.

 

Make sure you get the Gen2 finish nailers (16G and 15G). Gen 1's are all on sale now, but the Gen 2 is much improved.
