    That's about the era I'm thinking to, but would even prevent you from jumping a starter (like that would steal the car anyways in the 2000's)

    In all reality these days for a few bucks a month, could go as low tech as a pre-paid phone and app, or get more fun with something lik Traccar, OpenGTS, etc. Can get cheap sims for just sms use from redpocket.com Had a similar setup for a taxi company.
