I used to bounce it off the rev limiter on my XRunner almost daily for 3 years…lol…you’re fine. :)

I always thought the same, WOT while cranking should cut ignition/fuel in the weird case you were flooded etc. My lil seadoo 3 cyl 4 stroke supercharged jetboat had this function for just that, if conditions were JUST right youd get a non start due to too rich, hold it wide open and crank to clear latent fuel vapors, also used this function to crank but not start during oil changes for the dry sump pump to move stuff to the oil tank for a full oil change. EFI dirtbike has this function too.

Anyways, never needed such thing on the truck but surprised its not there... guess toyota is just like, damn straight you are fine to bounce on the limiter right at a start.

Yeah I thought it was weird too. I’m assuming Toyota would program the ECU on these cars in a way that would prevent you from doing anything that could harm the car. I also don’t recall seeing an oil light on the dash cluster so I’m assuming that means oil pressure was sufficient.

Yeah but its still not ideal to rev an engine right at start, oil does take time to circulate and build proper pressure (the dash idiot light turns off at a VERY low oil pressure vs what it should be when running properly).

But again, you are fine, warm motor, recently ran its all good.

FWIW, by the time you see the oil light, it’s pretty much too late.
I believe it comes on at or below 4.3 psi. If I’m wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

Floormats have been mentioned. If yours hang up the throttle, you have the wrong mats. Or they are installed wrong. The recall was for "unintended acceleration" and the cause was mats.

I used to hit the rev limiter getting on the highway about once or twice a week. The limiter keeps you from damaging the engine. You are ok don’t worry

I’ve got weather tech mats and they will get caught up in the pedals. If fact I’ve done the same thing and revved the crap outta the motor. The rev limiter saves the day.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I will look at getting a different set of floor mats that fit better as the ones that came with it don’t seem to be custom fit for this car. Hoping for many hundreds of thousands of miles more on my truck with no issues!

I still do, or did, now I'm trying to get better than 12 mpg.

I bounced the rev limiter in my supra once, it caused a cracked rod. I think these motors are much more conservative, so you can't hurt it. That is unless you purposely try to.
