I am looking to get a 5gal wavian (metal) or scepter (plastic) jerry can.

I am leaning towards the wavian.

I will at times drive with it in the bed and other times keep it in the garage if this has any impact on your thoughts.

My preference is metal. Carrying one in the bed is easy. I use a ratchet strap with an extra hook and two eyes mounted on the rail. The end strap goes onto the loop in the bed. Usually put a ground cloth over the can to protect it from the ratchet.

Either is great. I like the Scepter as it is 5X cheaper, leaving me more $ to fill it with fuel, or the purchase of a metal can cradle.

I bought the Wavian so I may adopt your method. Do you have a picture of your setup? If not I will figure it out.

I went for Wavian cans and so far I’m happy. Like others said probably not wrong on either, and may come down to availability these days.

Here is my quick mod to make it free flowing spout. I still use the original nozzle since there is not much advantage after this mod to get the extra non-carb flexible nozzle.

hah sweet, I ordered the flex nozzle because of what I read about the dribble spout. Maybe I will try your mod and return the flex

Don't have a picture. The extra hook goes to the front, with the other hook to the rear, across the top of the can. The ratchet then goes across the can to the loop in the bed. In my 09 I put a rubber cushion on the back of the ratchet to protect the can. On the new truck I just put a ground cloth over the can.
