Will I be happy with factory series coilovers? I'm about to order Accutuned fox coilovers for the front of my truck, and I was planning on buying the non-extended. I already have JBA UCAs and Ome coils on about 3" lift but I don't like the harsh ride and rubbing. So I was going to put the factory UCAs back on for the new shocks and stay under 2" (under 2" is my preference now regardless of options). Is this a mistake? Should I trade someone for LR adjustable ucas to be able to run the extended travel COs for a mid-travel setup? I hate these arms, the castor is a major bumm for me (besides that they're great)...

Daily driver. Occasional offroad trips, washboard and intermediate-technical trails. No rock crawling, no desert running, but slight aspects of both. Every day I drive 4 miles offroad/fireroad to work and back home, once a year I'll take a road trip 1,000 miles...

I also haul all my firewood for the year

If you plan on keeping your swaybar on I don’t think you will be getting much use out of the ext travel coilovers. I have ext travel kings up front with 600 pound springs. I took the swaybar off and it made washboard, speed bumps, and pot holes a lot smoother. Of course if you do this, you will get a lot of body roll when turning. For me it was worth the trade off, you get used to it after a few days and it becomes second nature. If the extended travel is the same price as the factory travel I say go for the ext travel it’s not going to hurt anything.

My vote was and would be the Fox extended travel coilovers with aftermarket UCAs (adjustable SPC in my case) and the swaybar removed.

I've been running this setup for 5 or so years now and it's been solid for me.

I agree with @Murphinator that if you're running a swaybar the extended travel coilovers are somewhat pointless. You also won't get the benefit of extended travel coilovers with the factory UCA.

Can't I disco one sway bar end link and run it like that when I want the independence? @Murphinator @stickyTaco
With these softer shocks I would want the sway bar back on for city trips (1hr into town, windy road) etc.

I have a feeling that I would regret not buying the ext travel; it would seem that no matter what that extra 1" will be felt because my ride height will be around 2" thus eliminating some down travel. I've heard that every inch counts on the fronts of these trucks so that's the direction I'm leaning

You can't just disconnect one end. The swaybar will end up destroying CV boot.

Now I remember the rabbit hole I fell down trying to research this topic last year... We really need an aftermarket discoable swaybar.

Anyways. I keep going back and forth between the ext and factory coilovers. I think I need more time to decide which direction to modify my truck. I guess, sigh, that I'm going to get some ome 885s for now; sorry guys don't bash me lol :bananadead:

I really don’t see a reason not to get the extended travel. Its not going to ride worse than factory would. They just ride a lot better with out the sway bar imo.

I just went down this same rabbit hole. Have the JBA’s, now run the 2.5 extended travel w/dsc, but stay at 2” (22” center of hub to fender). Spec toe and camber, 3.5 caster. CV angles are great, no fins on the boots touching at ride height and it rides amazing.
