GS Leather wallet

I had previously reupholstered a vintage LLBean recliner but those got sold to my brother.

 

Hello. Cool work. Pull-up is a finishing process, may I ask what grade of leather are you using/ What part of the animal? Thickness? Veg or Chrome tanned? Thanks.

 

Thanks man! I’m relatively new to leather work but I usually buy single or double shoulder hides and usually veg tanned. I’ll occasionally find a chrome tanned hide that I like. They’re 4-5 oz but for the wallets I’ll skive the pieces down by hand. As far as grading- I have no idea how to tell. They’re “nice”. Haha.

Oh man! Those arrived super fast! Of course you guys all live really close to me so I shouldn’t be surprised.

 

FYI, for you guys that ordered the chocolate- if you have some scratches or discoloration in the leather, you can bring back the darker brown with a little heat. It will naturally come back throughout the day if you normally carry your wallet in your back pocket. If you’re one of those front-pocket weirdos it might take longer.

 

I plan to embrace any and all scratches this baby encounters. Thank you for the info though!!

EDIT: Spoke too soon, nothing in the mail yet. But our dropoff for today also hasn't arrived yet, and tracking says delivery today so it should be here in an hour or so.

Sergio, this wallet is legit the coolest hand-made anything I've ever gotten!

And the chocolate brown is nearly an identical match to my boots!

I love the stitching, the corners not being squared, the pockets, this was a really well thought out piece.

Right on man! So awesome that you notice all those details. You know the little things are important to me. These are a first for me on a product scale. I make a lot of one off items and customs jobs but the wallets were a fun exercise.
