Just buy what makes sense for you. It will hold it's value accordingly.

If you are going to dump it in two years, I would get a low trim V6 4x4. It will be worth what you paid for it or more when you sell it and cost $10-15k less initially.

It doesnt matter.....TRDs go for more but cost more to start with so it is a wash as far as a trim with best resale.

I had a 2nd gen 6 cyl TRD. Loved it but at 189k I wanted to pick up my last taco. I ended up with a certified sr5 4 cyl. I added a few things like trifold bed cover, led internal and backup lights. Sprayed the undercarriage. It has LT 80k and now retired figure it’ll be good. The only thought is if you want to trailer anything heavy you’ll wish for a6cyl.

I always thought the TRD OR premium was the Goldilocks. All the off road capabilities as the Pro, without the exorbitant markup.

Any off-roading in your future? If so, I would go with TRD Off Road. Aside from that it would just be whatever options or amenities you want or need. Nav, leather, JBL, LED lights, just creature comforts from there. If it were me, that is the approach I would take.

I disagree, if you are truly off-roading then skip the overpriced mall crawlers and go sr or sr5. true offroaders build out there truck. I can upgrade everything over what the TRD comes with and save thousands.

The hot ticket fast selling Tacoma right now has always been 4 things. 4x4, V6, Double Cab, Long Bed.... Any model you get if you have that combo it will sell the fastest. Of course all Tacoma's have very good resell though. So buy what you want and do not worry cause they all hold value and sell

If I was buying a truck to sell 2 years from now, I would buy a Ram. Keep the maintenance up and the miles low. You can't go wrong, from my unfortunate recent experience.

I don't know if you can replace the crawl control and rear locker for less than what the OR package is? Maybe I am wrong?

Agreed, you can go to any extreme a person would like. However, each person has a taste of their own...pick what options YOU want. I was simply saying which trim level I would pick, and how to approach selection after that. Everything else from there is just personal options. But, you do you.
