    Hey there!

Has anyone put a OEM lift kit on a sport DCLB?

I recently ordered said model and was wondering if this can be done and if so, are there any cons.

I understand that an after market kit is less expensive ect, but I have read that some issues arise (keep in mind that I am living in a remote community with basic garages)

The dealer said it could be done, at the expense of possibly losing the collision sense feature (I have been driving for 13 years without, I can continue to do so lol)

    Thanks for listening

Since the Trd kit is just rebranded Bilstein 5100’s with a rear 1” lift block at a ridiculous price, I opted to go Bilstein direct on my ‘21 Dclb.

Its the same exact components and lifetime warr thru Bilstein vs Toyotas 12 month on the TRD version. Remember… Identical parts, without the TRD sticker.

There should be no reason your TSS wont work. The mild lift here won’t affect any safety sensors at all .

Just need a competent shop for the simple install , and an alignment after.

Last summer my shop did the install and alignment. The price including the parts I supplied was under $500 . Like most parts, the 5100’s have gone up a bit since then, but it’s probably the best bang for your buck to do a simple suspension lift. (Thats why Toyota sells their identical version.)

Hey there, thanks for the reply.

how is the drive on road with the bilstein’s?

    Was the mpg affected?

did you have any issues? (Vibrations)

I only had the stock shocks for about a month, but the new shocks feel pretty darn close ride wise. The ride is comfortable and not jarring at all. It wasn’t like there was a night and day difference..
I don’t do much off roading anymore so I can’t comment there. MPGs haven’t been affected, zero vibrations, zero performance issues. Its been great so far.

The front shocks are ride height adjustable, mine are set to the 3rd notch. I believe that’s where they set them when you have the TRD version installed. The whole truck sits level now, and is definitely lifted. They call it a 2/1 lift.

One more note, the stock rear shocks can absolutely handle the 1” rear lift on their own. You don’t have to upgrade to the 5100’s . I went ahead and did it anyway just because I wanted everything to match.

I think my 5100s were a major improvement and huge difference in ride and handling over the Sport Hitachi on my DCLB. I went on the 4th setting with a one inch block, corrected the drive angles with a diff drop and carrier bearing drop, added Sumo bump stops front and rear. The ride is great, soaks up bumps way better and no vibrations or issues now going on 4 years and 20k miles on the truck. I did the ECGS clamshell bushing knowing the needle bearing would soon go. The srock Sport shock just flat out suck! Give it time as my 5100s broke in and I swear the more miles I put on them the better the ride.

I was thinking of getting the Toyota lift kit and have heard good and bad, bad mostly being the cost. I'm not a serious off roader but do like to go to trails near me so it may be all I need.

Legit question and not being a smartass but why do so many people opt for the over priced Toyota/TRD dealer installed lifts? Is it warranty reasons or??

If you do the lift correctly I think it is very reasonably priced. I got the TRD shocks for $322 at the dealer with 20% discount and I’m going to use my stock coil springs and top hats. Then I bought a 1” rear block for $100 and already had the TRD Pro grill. I just haven’t had any free time to install them yet.

Idk why but adding it only gives you a 12 month warranty where Bilstein is lifetime, has more settings and is cheaper. Thousands of people use the Bilstein shocks with great success, and it's not like adding shocks is going to void your warranty. Hell my dealership sends the trucks to one high end ship here and never any warranty issues.

So whats the total height of the lift? 1 or 2 inches? I went with the Bilstein 2" lift with Eibach coils

Have you ever tried to warranty 7 year old bilstein shocks? I have on my 2nd gen and let me tell you what the end result after many emails and phone calls was. I bought new bilstein shocks with money out of my pocket.
Big difference between lifetime warranty and “limited” lifetime warranty.
Shocks wear out over time and will need to be replaced, if you think you buy once from bilstein and just get another set of free shocks whenever they go bad then I think you may be mistaken.

TRD shocks were about 2.25” in the front but I am 2wd so the 2” I would assume would be for 4wd.

    It will fit and
Try after two years, same results. Bilstein don't honor the claims of warranty.

Yes, on my Suburban. Our local shop took care of me, new shocks, no issues. I think a lot has something to do with the shop vs buying on line and installing them yourself. Never had an issue.

That’s an excellent price. 5100 front and rears are going for @ $430 most places, thats if they are not backordered.
