Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum as a member, I’ve visited often when I have a specific question or need advice on either my 2000 or my 2006 Prerunner

    Today I’m seeking help with the 2000 Prerunner 2.7, 2WD, 2Dr

    upload_2022-3-5_12-50-39.jpg

Recently I replaced the original motor (305K) with one of those motors imported from Japan that supposed to have under 65K miles, the truck is up and running like a gem

After replacing the motor, according to my mechanic he had to cut the oil dip stick short (now I don’t have one: it doesn’t reach the bottom) because the new engine came with the oil sump on the opposite side from where the original motor had it, thus a cross member (?) interferes with the new engine sump

Could or should a cross member be replaced to a different position: is that possible and is it correct?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and for any advice.

    Most respectfully,

I think you can swap the parts from the old engine to the new one to get everything back in the right place.

If I remember right @Allex95 did a LDM 3RZ install, maybe he'll chime in.

Thanks for replying. He did use the old oil pan, but now the dip stick doesn’t reach the oil, something to do with the pan configuration or …

The timing chain cover needs to be swapped and the pan. Unless you want to tap into the existing chain cover to make a dip stick tube either way the pan needs to be changed if your 4x4

    Thanks Allex95,

    The truck is 2x2

The pan was replaced in order to fit the Frame’s Cross Member location, however the mechanic said: “the dipstick was not working: not going through… so he cut the tip off in order to have a cover for the oil”… now I think I know why it wasn’t going through: Timming Chain Cover has a different configuration for each engine for the dipstick tube to enter the oil level… or something like that…
