What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Replaced my driver side cv axle with a new one from NAPA. I'm a little concerned that if/when I need to remove it, it might be a pain as the reliefs machined into the inner joint are all but non existent. It was a good opportunity to use my new Harbour Freight floor jack and Milwaukee M12 Fuel 3/8 ratchet. I also removed the sway bar while I had the skid plates removed. Also did a quick but fairly thorough interior cleanup. Not a full detail by any means, but a HUGE improvement over what it was.

 

Installed the JD fabrication gussets spindle and double shear steering kit today! Nice upgrade in strength!

 

Did the core support energy suspension bushing upgrade! Absolutely one of the best upgrades yet.

also upgraded my sway bar bushings with ES poly bushings and upgraded the sway bar links to all pro HD links.

 

I could go either way. Say good bye to your interior in the mud lol

 

I put a bull bar on my daughter's Tacoma.

 

Nothing special just replaced my idlers today. There seems to be slightly less vibes going through the truck so I’m happy

 

Where did you pick up the wheels from?

 

Fitting the winch was not too much of a problem. With the grill out in the bumper off it’s relatively easy there is a center support that runs from the lower core support up you just have to remove part of it. The bolts were a little bit of a bear to get in through the small holes underneath and get lined up but once started pretty easy.

 

Picked up a Desert Armor Soldier rooftop tent. Just waiting for my bed rack to show up on Monday to get it installed.

I ordered them through the dealership.

 

Smooth. It’s a little smoother than before but not a massive improvement. The improvements come from the strength.

 

Continued the battle against chrome with a TRD sport MGM grille I found on Craigslist and a little plastidip.

 

It’s on my list but it’s going to take some research on how I can get it to work with my truck. I have a 4cyl and the kit he has is setup for the 6.

 

Finally got it on, you do really need oompa loompa sized hands under that fender..




If I ever see another one of these in my life I will just quit before starting!!

 

Finally installed Archive Garage Hammer Hangers,shackles, and cross tube I've had sitting for a couple years. Read many posts about them being difficult to install, rest assured they are not. Had both sides installed in about 2hrs. Installed Deaver stage 3 leaf springs at the same time. And updated my shocks and coilovers at the same time. Super happy with how everything turned out and feels while driving.

 

Painted the front reservoir support. Got my front shock order from Elka last week. Tomorow everthing is stripped. I hope my bushing from Energy suspension will show up in the mail for the install there so many BO and lost mail it's crazy. New UCA/bushing from jba offroad, TTX Mevotech Link-kit/lca joint, all the hardware for the adjustment will be brand new and with grease fitting, a custom intermediate steering shaft with replacable needlebearing (the kind you put on off-road buggy), New front bumpstop from Timbren. And the piece of resistance 2 still hot from the factory 2.5 dc reservoir shock with 650 lbs spring from Elka to complete the upgrade of the suspension i started last summer.

Some bedliner to give a more stealth and rust free look. With the Red for the UCA this will blend nicely in the wheel arch.

 

Installed my USOffroad bumper and winch. Also made some brackets to keep the light bar somewhere in the front end of the truck. Choose to mount it just below the Toyota in the upper grill. Now that I am adding lots of weight I didn't anticipate adding when I bought my lift I am doing research on front suspension replacement. Currently on 5100/887, full skids, sliders, and now 120lbs of bumper and winch I am seeing some sag. Only at about 1.5-2 inches of lift (21.5" center of hub to fender) which isn't super bad but want to stay close to 3" to keep rake at a minimum. Would love to go 6112/650lbs but don't know if I can swing the extra cash compared to OME 90000/886 and maybe doing a spacer for lean. I am worried with the weight up front the 887's are going to be too soft and get boaty or nose dive too much when I brake. We will see how driving goes this week.
