Finally got some of my quilts back from the lady that's doing the final long arm quilting for me. Final step is to sew on the edge binding. Which is done by hand. Once I finally got the hand/eye muscle memory back I've been averaging about 4' per hour. Still tedious but no sense rushing the last step of the process!
This one I'm keeping for myself, already been cuddled up watching movies with it

    And a couple others

    0206221521.jpg
And handy man tools. The quilting is supposed to look like wood grain but I think she did it at too large a scale so its hard to make out

Love that! Very nice! You did a good job. Reminds me of the scrap metal horse I made for my wife about 4 years ago.

Made my first forged fiberglass part from a 3d printed mold. My goal is to actually do this with carbon fiber but glass is cheaper to mess with.

I really caked on the wax in the mold but the part still came out great. The mold is still in great shape. The part is nothing special, it's for an RC car. Looking at the finished part, Im wondering if my glass to resin ratio was less than ideal.

Been booking conventions and hired my first employee today to try to keep cranking product with some medical stuff going on. Things have been crazy

This may be an obvious question, but doesn’t the food break down inside after awhile? They look awesome!

I enjoy making miniature farm implements. Try to keep them under 8” wide.

Yup, it's either dried food or hand sculpted inclusions. That macaroni is made of clay.

I did a limited run of real meatballs in dice with the disclaimer that they'd eventually rot for Halloween. Never again, lol.

Aren't they encased in the epoxy? If there's no air there shouldn't be deterioration.

Be interesting to know if you've done any long term tests with that.

It is Epoxy Resin, as well as cast in a pressure pot, but that doesn't eliminate 100% of air. As food begins to deteriorate, it'll create its own space to rot in the air pockets within itself, as the epoxy won't penetrate into the food. In the right conditions, food can last in Epoxy for a very, very long time. Think of it like enbalming; you're not replacing the space needed for growth with anything,

Here's an infamous 20 year old resin hot dog
    [IMG]

In the case of the aforementioned meatball dice I made, they were cast in a blank, then covered in a numbered shell to crate a jumbo die. The resin at about 3/16 inches blew out from the rot, and that was within a few months. Thank God I decided to keep them around for a while before selling them just in case, lol.
