Taco is doing well, hope you are too, especially with that new Army Green taco!

 

If it's the purge valve it should be covered under emissions warranty which is usually longer than the power train warranty.

 

Not bad so far. I’m about to put the lift on in a few weeks I think.

 

Out of curiosity I looked it up because I had never heard of this warranty. What I learned is that most stuff under the federal emission control warranty is only 2 years/24k miles. Some stuff is 8 years/80k miles but PCV valve isn’t one of them. This is direct from Toyota.

 

That's correct for the PCV. If it's the purge valve it should be covered. I replaced many of them under emissions warranty when I was a tech for Ford.

 

Have done a couple runs for drill weekends and this is accurate. These lights are amazing. Haven't had a chance to drive in the dark during inclement weather, but clear skies and these are a massive upgrade. Well worth it.

 

Next question: radios.

For these drives I figured it might be useful to have a radio in case something happens. That and seems useful to have where there's no cell phone reception and/or SHTF. In reading up it seems like it be geography driven whether using HAM, CB, or GMRS/FRS - that being said, is one used in this area more than the others? I was looking at picking a

$50 UV-5R 8Watt UHF/VHF Radio with 2 Rechargeable Battery, Portable Radio for Adults with Earpiece, GV-771 Antenna, Compatible with BAOFENG Programming Cable (3rd Gen)

UV-5R for HAM just to have. I know I need a license to broadcast but at least it would be something to listen on.

 

IMO having a radio and carrying it “in case there’s no cell service” is a plan doomed for failure unless you’re proficient in hitting repeaters and actually knowing how to use the radio to reach out to someone.

I like to use my

$165 midland MXT275 micromobile® GMRS radio – 15 watts two-way radio with integrated control microphone – overland caravanning tractors – detachable external magnetic mount antenna - 8 repeater channels

midland MXT275 for trail comms but I also carry a Garmin Mini for satellite comms whenever I’m out of service.

 

I gave a bumper to that place.
