I have a 2005 4.0 with a 6 speed manual. I have replaced the clutch master and slave cylinder as well as extensively bled the entire system. I have also changed the trans fluid for 75w90 Lucas Oil synthetic. The truck shifts notchy and slowly into 2nd, 4th and 6th gear. Also at random the clutch will not fully “let go” with the pedal on the floor. It is very hard to pull out of gear from a stop and still wants to lurch forward. Other times the clutch performs well. Could this problem be caused by worn bearings in the clutch? I have a hard time believing the synchros in the gears you pull towards yourself are trashed while the ones you push away are fine.

Did you see the condition of your pilot bearing while you replaced your clutch? are you able to shift it easily through the gears when the engine is off?

I did not replace the clutch. Just the slave and master cylinders. The gears shift great when the truck is sitting and off. Supposedly the clutch has been replaced but I found the front driveshaft sat on the studs with the nuts missing so I’m seriously questioning the work. If the clutch was replaced it was probably just the clutch itself and who knows if that was done correctly.

An absolutely stupid double input shaft bearing and what's called a clutch extension quill to support it sans pilot bearing.

My guess is the aluminum quill is tore up and needs the URD stainless repair sleeve, hopefully it isn't broken.
