Help an ignorant person name these parts/find the part number. GSD pup chewed/tore some wires. This is all at the rear end of the transmission. Pretty sure the ripped out wires has something to do with the 4wd since the light was flashing 4lo like it was trying to switch over. Pretty sure I can just splice in new connects for the 2 wired parts (I think one is a temp sensor?). I have no idea what’s up with that tube… vacuum line? Overflow? Seems to run into the top of the transmission but not sure. I’m not a mechanic but did keep user level maintenance going on more than one Bradley IFV during deployments , so speak real slow and in cave man terms. Thanks in advance.

Your dog did that!? Holy crap..

That is the transfer case actuator. The large connector (1st pic) is the actuator motor power and limit switch wires. The two grey connectors are the detection switches, one each for 4Hi and 4Lo.

The hose is just a breather vent hose. Make sure you get that hooked back up ASAP to avoid water getting in the plastic motor housing. In fact you might want to replace that hose all together, it looks dry rotted and will probably fall back off. As far as replacing the wiring harness, Im not sure about that.. That would likely get expensive real fast if you went for a whole new harness. If you have someone who is good at electrical terminals your best bet might be to find new connectors that exactly match the factory ones, then splice in some extension wires with proper terminals, crimpers, and weather seals so its all waterproof when done.

Gonna have to get back under after work to verify. I think it plugs into a male fitting on the actuator case.

@SR-71A thanks for the info. Been doing some research and think I’m getting it. If I understand correctly, the indicator closer to the actuator is the 4HI indicator?

Do you mean even dogs like vegetable-based wire insulation?

OP @Ryewhiskeybent you probably want to use some electrical tape to cover up those bare wires until you make the repair, if you have to drive the truck at all

Im pretty sure it just dead ends with a standard barbed breather vent above the transmission. But its very hard to access / confirm that. I meant to run a bore scope up there and check, but never did. Best I could do with a cell camera:

great time for a FJ transfer case swap

if your handy and can solder / obtain the crimp with crimping tool those connectors can be rebuilt.

Go to a junkyard, cut off the harness, solder the harness on to the wires with shrink tube and you’re good to go.

Had an almost new Mitsubishi Outlander come to the shop with the O2 sensor wires and left rear brake hose chewed off twice about a week apart, needless to say the owner wasn't happy.

Gotta get that dog a bone

My house is littered with big bones, I stub my toes on them going to the BR at night. My pup only digs the carpet a little when she gets stressed out
