How are you keeping the wood from bouncing around when wheeling? Keeping speed low and the weight of items on top?

No, we tent camp. I mainly wanted a kitchen and utility drawer to keep things organized.

They're sized to fit closely so they cant rotate and fall off the ledge. When I'm wheeling, I usually have all 3 stacked at the fwd end of the bed and I have my 3 fold mattress on top of that so it keeps everything tight. I do drive my truck pretty hard, had all 4 wheels in the air on a few occasions and my skidplates do get used. Through all of that I've never once had a board shift significantly out of place.

I love this. I am waiting on DCLB, and this would be perfect for my needs. What mattress are you using?

Thanks! I really think it's the best solution for most people. Keeps things simple and flexible. If you decide you'd like a professionally manufactured (CNC cut) set instead of DIY please let me know and I'd be happy to give you a 10% discount as an early adopter of the BamBeds system with free shipping.
If you want to DIY, the approximate board dimensions are 56.75"x24" and it's best to buy 5x5 stock if you can find it to reduce waste.

This is the mattress that I typically use. Theres a bunch of options out there and pretty much any ~4" trifold full size mattress should do the trick.

I checked your website, but didn’t see. What is the weight for DCLB in birch and bamboo?

The Birch and Bamboo are both approximately 22lbs per board. So for the long bed it's 66lbs for the full set of 3 boards.

Has anyone found storage containers that are just shy in height of the rail/ledge that holds the plywood up in the bed? Seems pretty easy to find ones that are 6 or 7 inches high, but I want to maximize available storage space.

Definitely not a high end build with anything too fancy. I'm all about functionality and use my truck for a variety of things. The #1 thing I'd say is it has to be removeable(easily) and not permanent.

Option 1: (2) 2x6's as the supports across the bed with the carpeted plywood on top, eventually drawer sliders under the box

Option 2: Build the drawers as the base with 3 vertical support slides, and then carpeted plywood on top of that

½" ply with a single center support would be able. That said, a ~4'x6' sheet of ½" would be a bit awkward to get in/out.

Utilizing two drawers as "decking" could potentially leave lost/dead space between wheel wells & front of bed unless you add trap doors. Then it begins adding complexity

I bought these but I also have a OEM rubber mat in the back. I also got the "clear" ones so I could see a fuzzy view of whats inside. Since my plywood is split into 4 pieces they actually use the plastic boxes as support.

They have worked really well for a couple of years although I did crack one with a loose farm jack when I hit a hole offroad at speed.

Jet sleds are slightly higher but they act as support instead of the wheel wells. Slide-out even with weight on a platform.

2pc would be pretty difficult to get in and out which is why I went with a 3 piece design for Bambeds

    Just the basics
My original sleeping platform was two pieces...three is better because it allows for more bed space if you have taller items. It isn't that difficult to do at home with a couple simple tools which saves a lot of money.

I have 6 of these under my platform in my Tundra. 3 on each side of the center support tied together with paracord. There's already a hole to tie them together. Basically a 3-compartment "drawer" on each side.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JCKCQQ?ie=UTF8

and I have 3 of these on one side under the platform in my Tacoma. I left the other side open for storing longer stuff

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001N4700?ie=UTF8&th=1

works totally fine for my needs and a helluva lot less expensive and less-involved as some of these heavy drawer systems the guys are building. Quick and easy to remove too.

any chance of a pic of the Taco? does this provide a level surface to mate with the edge/ridge/wheel well support on the side of the taco box? specs show these are 7" high.
