Anyone got a solve for this? Super annoying, they rattle over any road surface. They also clank when I tap the brake pedal lightly (not that I do this outside of diagnosing the issue).

Tough to tell, OP. Are all of your heat shields tight? its common to see the fasteners rust through especially with high mileage trucks like yours. Any idea where about its coming from? Would the shop do anything about it?

Get a rubber mallet and get under the truck and start tapping away.

It sounds like passenger side, much louder when the windows are open. I did get under the truck and checked all the likely rattle culprits. Couldn't make anything sound like when I'm driving it.

I may just go back and make it their problem to try and fix.

Heat shields are tight and this sounds more substantial than a heat shield which have a much lighter tinny sound.

OK so it's definitely the front passenger brakes rattling. I can replicate it just by tapping the brake pedal. Anyone got a solve?

You’re missing the brake pad anti rattle spring. W-shaped spring, pushes the pads towards the pistons and is held in place with the slide pins. They’re small, and you’ve got a lot of rust there. They probably snapped and fell off miles ago.

Its the pads. They sit loosely in the caliper. After driving for a while the first brake application tightens them up making a clack sound. A slightly warped rotor will exacerbate the issue.
Mine did this more when the pads were past 50% wear.

There is a shim that is supposed the be in there between the pad and caliper on both sides, it is often left out by people rushing a brake job. Pull the pads, grease the sliders, apply brake pad silicone goop between the pad backing plate and the shim and your noise should go away. Mine did.

Oh yeah.... your spring is indeed missing as Zman said, replace that as well.
