So I recently purchased a new 2022 SR5 Tacoma with the 4 cylinder engine. My prior truck was a 2004 Ford Sport Trac with a 4.0 V6. One thing I've noticed is the "openness" of the rear wheel wells, which is somewhat disturbing considering the road grime and dirt that will accumulate under the vehicle. Do the higher trim levels have a better wheel well configuration? Is there aftermarket alternatives? Thanks in advance.

They are all the same. No larger liners for the rear from Toyota . The Trail and Pro are slightly lifted so those would have even more “openness” Nothing to worry about. Keep things clean especially if driving on salted roads. You will be fine. Its a truck and it will get dirty.

As far as aftermarket, I have seen bigger liners avail for the front wheel wells. Not sure about the rear. Check HUSKY.
Heavier duty benefits severe off roaders, the stocks work fine for the average driver.

Just wait till you get a few more miles on your truck and realize the stock liners warp and look like trash because there is nothing holding them on the front edge.

Yeah I'm disappointed how thin and flimsy the wheel well liners are. About as thin as you can make plastic. Not what I expected.
