So the gas thefts have already started where I live here in Virginia. I had a neighbor who's tank was siphoned empty last night. Sad when hard working people get sacked by criminals.

So back to Tacomas, is anybody using a locking gas cap that won’t throw a code? I have a 2021 Tacoma Off Road and I need a locking cap so I’m looking for options.

    Thanks,

    John

Sorry folks, didn’t mean to be repetitive and simply didn’t notice a similar thread was already posted earlier.

No money, all went to truck...
It's good the thieves siphon the gas. Usually around here they punch a hole in your gas tank and drain it that way...

So how are they managing to punch a hole through the anti siphon screen?

Personally I'd rather them go through the top than through the bottom. Save your money on a gas cap, invest in lighting up your driveway.

They may have had gas stolen, but I bet it wasn't siphoned. Tell them to look for a hole punched)drilled in the tank.

Otherwise their next fill up is going to be messy.

I thought they did away with the siphon method years ago to with some gizmo inside the filler system too.

    ahhh city/suburban problems. I don't miss them.

It's kind of boring where I live at night... I welcome an invitation to spice things up and use the excavator.

    I'm jk... kinda...

You are not alone. Us city folk have access to lots of chemicals and a public sewer system...even though playing with the digger is always fun.

The gas tanks are plastic. If you have an OEM gas tank "skid", it is plastic.

Drill the plastic and take the gasoline. Way faster, more to take, and easier than trying to siphon.

This one works, many Tacoma owners use it. I've had it on for five years, no issues and on my 1st gen for 12 years.

Reminds me years back i had my 4Runner stolen. Between a locking gas cap and it was on empty they only got about a 1/2 mile away and left it . Besides a moldy piece of pizza and the half burnt joint they left it wasn't messed up... good thing i left a spare key for them to find.
