I am almost afraid to post here, but I'm going to anyway. What's the worst that can happen?

Quick back story: I have owned three 2nd Gen Tacos - all 4x4 TRD Sports (2006 Access cab, 2008 DCSB, 2010 DCLB). All slightly modded, but nothing extreme. All were daily drivers. I ended up moving to a 4Runner in 2018 (2015 XP), and really enjoyed it. In an attempt to free up some funds (and take advantage of the ridiculous resale market), I sold the 4Runner last year. *Ask me about my horrible experience with VROOM* But, I sold it for the same price I paid for it after 3 years and 30K+ miles.

Currently driving a 2001 Ford Ranger I purchased from my grandfather for $1. Nothing special, but it is super clean with only 33k on the odometer.

We are finishing up building a new home, and my intention was to go to a full size (GM 2500 HD) after closing. After thinking a little more, I have decided to come back home to a TACO. My must-haves are TRD Pro and manual tranny. My intent is to drive the truck for the next 5-6 years and then hand it down to my son as his first vehicle (he's 10 now). Think what you'd like, but you can keep negative comments to yourselves about that.

I'm on the fence about the 2022, primarily because of the color options. I am just kind of tired of seeing a sea of white, black, silver, and gray everywhere I go. The lime green is kind of growing on me, but I'm afraid I'll get sick of it. Can't make up my mind.

I know there are threads out there about the 2023, and I'm not trying to open that can of worms... Just wanting to start a conversation about color options. Any speculation on different color options on the horizon?

Pic of the Ranger just because. I am, by NO stretch, a Ford guy, but you have to appreciate this little truck! 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. 2wd, regular cab., 3.0 V6 33K miles. (For sale SOON)

Looking forward to getting back to the community. Lots of good folks around here!

I doubt you can order a 2022 Pro now, especially MT, especially a specific color and expect it this calendar year.
    Good luck.

Not a whole lot of options regarding color. Either find a used one in a different color, or get a wrap and make it whatever color you want.

So is your choice to drive that nice looking (and completely paid for) Ranger or go into massive debt to own the Taco Pro? If so, I know which one I would choose.

Ask yourself; What would Grandpa do? :)

Oh man. I may lean towards being overly sentimental about vehicles, but you may end up regretting selling your grandfathers truck one day. Especially when its in that great of shape.

I was at the dealership a little over a week ago, and was told that any Pro's were for 2023 delivery now.

My first truck was a hand-me-down V6 5spd single cab Dodge Dakota from my dad, that I rode around in from the time I was 8 years old until I left for boot camp. Tons of memories in that thing...from me running into it with my bicycle right after he bought it and putting a huge scratch in it, him letting me sit on his lap and steer it while he drove, riding around in the bed with all my soccer teammates after games, taking it up to the mountains to go camping, him driving my buddies and I to go dirt biking before we had our licenses...

Then I sold it a few months later and bought my first Tacoma had absolutely zero regrets.

That Ranger would be the perfect 1st vehicle for the boy.

I have an 'in' and can order a manual TRD Pro. Not overly concerned about how long it'll take to get it. (Have a decent daily )

I'll never understand these types of comments... No where in my OP did I solicit opinions about which truck to keep. It's apples and oranges. Not that I need to explain, but: My current lifestyle requires me to have more than 2 doors. I would also like to have 4x4 because reasons. I have always wanted a brand new vehicle, just to be able to take care of it to my standards from day one. I am completely aware I am purchasing a depreciating asset. Don't care. I want what I want. I've never had a brand new vehicle, and I've worked very hard to be able to purchase one. So, that's what I'm going to do.

"go into massive debt..." is subjective. I also didn't say anything about financing the vehicle. I was just asking about color speculation for the next MY. That's really it.

As far as what my Grandpa would do... he'd probably tell me to do what makes me happy. Life is too short not to.

I'm really buying this truck because I think it'll be an awesome first vehicle for my son. Safe, reliable, and manual trans is an absolute must.

Don't necessarily disagree, but the wifey wants more safety features and a bigger vehicle.

Keep the ranger and buy the PRO. win win. Ill give you $2 for the ranger so you can double your money. I kid man. Do whatever makes you happy. When my Sierra bit the dust I thought about buying something used. I have also never had a new vehicle. Im in a great financial spot in my life and thought what the hell ive worked way to damn hard to not drive something daily that I truly enjoy.

Solar Octane from the '22 Tundra Pro. Speculation based on absolutely nothing.

Who knows, maybe next year will be neon yellow?

Or you could shop a buyer's remorse special in lunar rock or army green now. Or you could get real lucky and still find a low miles cav blue.

Here Here! Appreciate the offer, but think I'll pass this time. I DID do a bed liner, tonneau cover, trailer hitch, window tint, and several hours with a buffer! Local shop offered my $9k for it just yesterday! I want to take it to Ford just to see what they think!

Dude, you put your comments out in public. Expect people to judge you. Life is short. Buy what you want. My point above is some pros that were on order from Oct of last year still have not shown up. So if you order a 2022 and it goes past September you will be getting a 2023 lol and a different color.

Completely get that. That's why I started the comment with "am almost afraid to post here, but I'm going to anyway. What's the worst that can happen?" I knew there would be folks sharing their unsolicited opinions. I just don't get it. People talking about massive amounts of debt and whatnot. Everyone's situation is different. Just saying. Either way, I've loved Tacomas for a long time, and I'm excited to get a brand new one. Even MORE excited my son will get to enjoy it as well. I know what configuration I want, and I'm willing to wait for it.
