I got an average of 25.34 MPG on a tank years ago in a 2007 DCLB Pre Runner with the 4.0 and 5AT. Not really hard to do.

Check the link in my sig for my long logs of fill ups over the years, different cars, same roads and traffic. Also the gas prices were not much different now.

A trip to the Grocery Store is about 30 miles for me, try to set up several different things in 1 trip to save time and gas.

If you want better mpg put on SR tire specs. I was getting 28 mpg with them. Then I decided to put some oversized AT tires on. It’s not that great anymore

When my 2017 was new, OEM tires, front chin strap etc..., I could get 24mpg. Now, I have larger tires, no chin strap and do not drive like a slow retired dick, I don't get that MPG

You can do that with pretty much any manual car provided the engine is spinning close to the correct speed. Useful skill actually. I lost the clutch in my first Ranger (an 1983) and had to drive it home and then to the shop without using the clutch. Need to learn the rpm to speed change and I would recommend finding a speed for each gear, look at the rpm before the shift and then after so that you can adjust your foot to bring the engine to the correct speed (think of it more like a range of rpms that can be close to what the engine is forced to spin in the gear you want to go into). For that failed clutch, I had to stop the engine to get into 1st gear or reverse. Then start the engine. Yes your battery is that strong but don't make a habit of doing that (and you'll need to disable the switch that prevents starting in gear).

No doubt someone will read this and feel the need to point out that this is dangerous and you should never do this and you should call a tow truck. I didn't have that choice. I was a broke high school student at the time.

Probably not photoshopped. I've gotten better than 26 with the automatic. Just had to reset the counters while traveling at cruising speed and drive it easy. I routinely get 25+ right after fill up until I run into a few traffic lights.

Where did you find a normal prius driver? I've never seen this elusive creature.

Agreed. I spend all my time in 4th for local roads or 6th for the hwy.

And 5th for 40mph?! I'm just going into fourth there.

currently averaging high 18's for mpg.

Has nothing to do with being manual and everything to do with poking along.

The days of manual transmissions always returning better MPG than automatics is long gone.
