Maine checking in. One year the high temperature on July 4th was 54 degrees. The following January 4th the high temperature was 56 degrees. 54 in July was "FREEZING!!!". 56 in January was a heatwave. Even in cold climates you can get used to warm or cold temps. I know people who wear shorts regardless of the temperature or the time of year. I myself often wear a windbreaker even when the temps dip quite low, but only when I am just walking out to my heated truck, driving to my destination then walking into my heated destination. Same thing people do in hot climates in the summer, just going from air conditioned space to air conditioned space. But I know when and how to dress for cold if I am going to be out in it for a long time and when the temps dip I put my winter coat, hat and mittens in the truck, "just in case".

Cold weather is stupid, it does not get that cold where I live, but there are a few days or weeks of cold. Mostly due to the wind. I won't pretend that its really cold. I think the lack of day light is worse than the cold temperatures, but that's also the cause of the cold.

Snow is also stupid, but it's usually not that cold when the snow is falling.

Get out of the city and head to the Sierra Nevada now and again during winter time you'll find cold is cold ever could be.

I gotta work in these conditions but you can only pack on so much clothing till it gets in the way. Heated clothing has gotten great. You do get use to it over time. Usually first couple weeks of each yr I try get get my body ready for it alittle each day. Purposely go out under dressed.
