I'm waiting on some McNeil fiberglass fenders and bedsides I ordered back in November and I got to thinking about the strength of the 3rd gen composite bed. I know it's already pretty weak, hence why we add bed stiffeners. But, that's on a bed with steel sides. I'm curious to see how much weaker the bed becomes using fiberglass sides.

I was thinking of possibly fabricating a cage that runs under the top of the sides that a bed rack could attach straight to.

Anyone else running fiberglass sides run into any issues with a rack or a topper?

I can't directly answer your question but wanted to share some ideas anyways to possibly get the gears turning. If you wanted to build a bed rack, you can have it run down and grab the bed bolts since those bolt into the frame. That will take a lot of stress off the bedsides. The first picture is BAMF bed rack and the second two are my own.

These bedracks are awesome. Def want one. The shipping to PA has to be ridiculous.

You could hop in this build thread and ask him what shipping was. He's in VA and has one. Would give you some sort of idea.
