I recently took my 07 Tacoma to get a brake line replaced only to be told the the frame is rusted out, gas tank held on by one strap, cross members rusted through, tow hitch 3/4 rusted through. The service guy said there was a recall on the frame but it was out dated. I think he called the dealer. He then asked me why I put money into replacing the rear springs. I stated it was a recall so I had them replaced, but the dealer never mentioned anything about the frame recall (warranty). I contacted Toyota and told them I never received a frame recall letter, and when I took it in for the rear spring recall the dealer never said anything about the frame. would it be the dealers responsibility to advise me of the frame warranty? Toyota's response was the frame warranty had expired, I should have ask the dealer to check the frame, go back to the dealer. Now I'm stuck with a truck with a good body and can't drive it. :(

Welcome to Tacoma World, Noochy. Gnaw...no need for you to be led to the watering hole. You may be thinking off a Recall where manufactures are ordered to notify owners. As my Gramps used to stay "if you're gonna sit around with your rod in your hand you may as well fire up the welder." Now is a great time to learn to weld. Find a buddy to learn alongside of. It can be a real bonding experience. Good luck. Bushels of info on your predicament here in Tacoma World.

Looking back at some mailings i got for my 2007 years ago for the frame one was a limited service campaign that covered the frame fix up till March 31 2016. Another letter was a warranty enhancement program where the frame coverage was offered to 2019. Hope things work out... it pays to get under the truck once in a while and check things out.

Sorry bud, they aren’t going to cover it. We get a post like this every week. You need to look into having it fixed by a welder.

How long have you owned the truck? (year you bought it)

I take it your state doesn't do safety inspections?

When were the springs replaced (year) ?

There was no frame recall, no warranty. It was a limited service campaign. Similar, but different.

Who has been servicing your truck, ie oil changes, brakes, etc etc.? This rust didn't happen over night, and someone should have been giving you a heads up, unless this was a recent purchase. While you'll not get any $ out of them, you should not use them for service work any longer.

You'll not get a nickel out of Toyota. They replaced lots of frames over many years, but once a campaign ends, it ends. The 'I didn't get notice' won't fly either, since Toyota doesn't run the PO service, 'lost in the mail' is viable.

Depending on mileage and the condition of the rest of the truck, you are likely the owner of a parts truck at this point. Unfortunately.

I’m pretty sure Toyota gets their records from the DMV.
I received my notice years ago in the mail. They inspected my frame when the did the springs.
I believe the frame replacement was 12 years from date of first use.
Being you that you have an ‘07, there’s nothing the dealership can/will do.

I'm thinking I bought the truck in '16', I received the recall on the springs in '19' and had that done.
Thanks for all the info. and website now the ground work.
