I’ve been looking into something like this. Where did you have the radio mounted in your truck?

 

This is an all in one unit. So the only part you have to mount is a 1" by 4" by 2" box outside of view, tucked under your dash. If I'm not mistaken this is a two wire handheld so it won't hold memory if you don't have it wired directly to battery.

 

The box was mounted up under my dash, found a spot with some zip ties and ran the cord out from the little gap under the steering wheel. Plenty of cord to put it other places though. And yes I wired direct to the battery for the memory and to avoid and interference from a fuse tap.
