Sure seems like it will require reprogramming to double the cutoff the way things appear to be going...

13 mpg around town doesn't help either, but at least she'll pull 19 on the highway which isn't too shabby. It's honestly not far off of a tacoma which is surprising.

I'm wondering if increased gas prices will keep some dummies from driving. I routinely have to avoid a sudden death at a particular crosswalk

Agreed. Filled the work truck the other day from about 3/8ths a tank. $156. of diesel. Damn sure happy its on the company dime and not mine. In general though, this still sucks.

It's better than my Tacoma, but I haven't bought the cable yet to adjust the speedometer for 33" tires, plus I'm on mud tires now. I'm lucky to get into the 15's per the on-board mpg calculator, usually I'm around 14 give or take.

Oh I know...I have been trying avoid calling this trip the "Help get Dave's his old Taco surplus out of his house"

Also the forecast is looking less snow, but the temps and wind sure will make it real interesting!

I will say that a dead-on speedometer (and subsequently odometer) is well worth it. Once I finally fixed mine I was like "Whyyyyy did I wait so long?!"

I know, it's only been a couple thousand miles and already I'm like, why haven't I ordered it already?!

I really need to do this too. Read your writeup and one on t4r and it seems the new version of the controller you used will work on the t4r too. Just need to pull the trigger and not be a weenie about cutting the wiring

I would love the bluetooth version, it would make adjustments way easier rather than pull the dash apart to tweak it into perfection.

So both of these have a USB cable that you plug into your computer and you change the settings through a program you download, correct? Any pros and cons for either the Hypertech or Rough Country version?

Yeah you basically plug in stock tire size, new tire size, and it comes up with the correction number and then you tweak it from there. A lot of people will leave the USB cable in the unit and have it accessible underneath the dash so you don't have to pull it apart to make tweaks. I do know Hypertech is the more popular one but likely because it's been around longer. I haven't done too much reading on the RC one but I haven't heard negative things about it.

I just ordered the Rough Country version. Another thing to check off the Tacoma list!
