2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4X4

Hello from Austin Texas.

Placed money down 9 months ago for a TRD Pro...that changed after I heard it was a 5K over MSRP. I then waited for a TRD Off Road...months go by and no allocations coming in anytime soon. Then the dealer contacted me stating a Super White Tacoma 4X4 TRD Sport (tech package/leather/moonroof) arrived with almost everything I wanted. I saw the truck and I was sold...no more waiting for me so I decided to get the TRD Sport.

After seeing the Accessories section, we added the TRD lift kit/grille combo. I had that kit installed a few weeks ago...very nice feel...I will add colored vinyl letters to grille eventually.

As of (3/10/2022) yesterday, I added a vinyl stipe kit to my hood. that was fun...not...but we got through it. I removed the TRD factory stickers in the back also (heat and wash) no issues as it was a new sticker/truck. I will add another rear style vinyl later...there are plenty of options.

Other than the factory TRD lift kit/ grille combo, vinyl decal to hood, and center counsel organizers, that's all I have done.

My future plans are like most everyone else...add tires and black rims. It rides very good and I am pleased with my purchase.

This is my first truck and my first Toyota. I did keep my daily driver (Kia) due to gas mileage. *The dealer only wanted to give me $750 for my excellent condition 2003 Ford Explorer XLT so I have that still to sell locally. CARMAX offered $1500.

I love my sport, with my stickers I waited till the first 100+ degree day and they came right off with no mess or clean up.

Congratulations, How much over msrp did you have to pay for your sport? I have always driven Toyota trucks and have a TRD Sport being built 3/22/22 it will be nice to update.

 

Originally it was 2K over...I brought it up to the dealer and he said don't worry about it and took it off. It seemed like it was automatically placed on sticker. I tried to get $1700 worth of additions taken off but I couldn't as it was already on the truck. So I paid MSRP +TT&L. With additional extended warranties to include wheel/tire protection package (wife peace of mind) and lift kit added during accessories sales pitch, they got their 2K and then some...LoL. I really like the truck and it rides very well.

You didn't mention price and those are significant upgrades on your Sport. I paid $38,870 in MD for mine with just floor mats and door seals.

I also got the opposite color...lol.

Looks like you already have OEM LED headlights...that's cool. Are your Fogs LED too?

And those steps too. I wanna call them "Raptor" side steps but I think they're called something else.

How about a TRD Skid and Talon CAT plate to consider?

Did yours include locking tail gate?

I've yet to consider a hood decal...I think it looks good on white.

I bought the extended warranty too. I had a trade-in ($4700) plus $5K deposit.

After the dust settled, I financed $35K at 1.8% APR.

I wanted a truck under $40K and the darn TTL still pushed it slightly over.

The add-ons I've done total are less than $5K for sure. I wanted the TRD Lift but I'm seriously considering against it the more I drive my truck.

I'm just glad I was able to negotiate buying a truck with my wife. After my accident (Oct 2018) with the '03 Honda Pilot + wife paying off her '17 Elantra, she was OK with me buying the new Tacoma. (She talked me down from the Tundra which I realized was way too much truck for me)

These trucks (or any vehicle) make us happy because of how we get to the point of purchase.

I realized I never posted the rear vinyl on my original post like I said I would. I placed pics in another thread I think....anyways, here are the pics. Purchased off Etsy...no link...I asked them to make the stripes without the downward flare. I'm happy with it...
