I was looking at some aluminum to do this actually as I think it would not only do the job but as you stated be easier to shape. I’ve been looking at ways to protect the bed as you mentioned also…I was thinking of rounding the edges and probably using a rubber hose to keep the metal off the bed.

Thanks for the input! Seems like a fun task to mess with while drinking your favorite beverage.

This actually could be pretty cool if the lenses were in the trd colors.

Otherwise you should get 100 more and do the whole grill :)

Yes, the rubber hose has worked for me on many, many projects. Even wire rub hot-spots. But if you don't want to (or can't) bend the metal strap at the bottom into an "L", Amazon sells a package of rubber bumpers with a tab on them that will plug into a drilled hole, and cushion between strap & bed.

Shop for the size you want:

Since removing the Trail Edition boxes I have two open bolt holes on each side. I'd love to put a couple of d-rings or hooks for anchoring ratchet straps and bungee cords. Has anyone done this? Wondering if there is something specific for this location in the bed.

Great way to completely kill all airflow through the radiator.

I used rubber hose from a vacuum line I had laying around. Also used a file on the edges to round them down a bit. Turned out a perfect fit under my tonneau cover for my crappy little just in case Costco shovel.

There's a set of OEM tie-downs that go there on the regular trucks (non trail edition). Part #: 66312-0C010

Note: Not sure if that part number comes with the bolts to thread into the holes (2 bolts for each tie-down).

It was all in jest. That’s completely obvious. Thanks killjoy. :boink:

    Fair enough

It's not really that noticeable. Looks like it part of the license plate.

Could be worse. Could be one of those extra wide LED multifunction brake lights that blinks and turns orange, or the stupid strobing brake bulbs.
