Anyone running a smittybuilt winch? They seem to have decent reviews. It's not something that's going to see constant use for me, just when needed in an emergency.

I have a 9500 lb Smittybilt on my F150. Like you I don't plan to use it a lot but so far, no complaints. The only thing I've used it for so far is to make sure some trees I was cutting down fell in the right direction and to drag a tree out of the way that had fallen across a road blocking traffic.

I have no plans to bury my truck up to the frame in mud while off road. But I hunt a lot on snow covered and muddy forest service and farm roads where sliding into a ditch is a real concern. I've done it more than once and have always been able to get myself out without a winch. But having one, even a smallish one would have sure made it easier.

You might also want to consider the Harbor Freight winches. I know several people who use them as well. That is what I put on my ATV. Both Harbor Freight and Smittybilt are made in China, maybe in the same factory. In fact, basically everything under $1000 is made in China regardless of the name plate on it.

I use the absolute shit out of my smittybilt 10k, so far it works great and pulls hard. On this day in the photo I winched 12 times Wireless remote is super nice and havent had a problem with it, only issue I've had is snapping the synthetic and overdrawing my battery on a hard/long pull.

I got the smitty. Haven’t had to use it yet but it was easy to set up.
