Does anyone in this thread install it, drive it, and enjoy it? Is the juice worth the squeeze?

I enjoy it. Worth the money to me but I only paid $6400 and did the install myself. Some of these guys spent more for the kit plus a grand or more on install which might make it not worth as much.

Glad you’re happy. Just wondering because I’m intrigued but cautious with page after page of tinkering and adjusting when all I’d want is to set it and forget it.

Noticeable torque gains from 1,500 to 4,000 RPM would be nice, too.

I installed and haven’t popped the hood since. Very worth it. 6,000+ miles.

Thats just the nature of people in this forum - always tinkering with stuff. I have driven about 15k miles since my installation, towing for probably 5000 of those miles and the only thing I’ve done to the s/c is change the leaky coolant reservoir cap.

Is there a table that limits torque when the outside air temp is below a certain threshold regardless of engine coolant temp?

Ok I tested at 28°F with my trailer this morning and at 45°F around noon.

there was no noticeable difference in WOT power or boost. 5psi at 2500rpm to around 7 at 6k.

the only difference I noted was a temporary throttle limit at exactly 5000-5250 in 3rd gear when it was cold. At noon it didn’t do this

Yup...me. It only costs more now due to the software that had to be developed for it. You would be amazed at how much it costs for software these days. Anyway, I've really enjoyed it without issues except where my installer (my nephew) didn't clamp a hose tight enough and it threw a large evap leak code. Aside from that, as someone previously stated....we are a part of this forum because we tinker with everything. lol. Seriously, there isn't anything I don't mod now....guns, tractor, yard, bathroom, etc..we just make it all our own.

I am not sure how it is possible to limit boost on this setup, there is no ECU controlled waste gate like on a turbo system nor is there any ECU control on the built in blow off valve(just vacuum). I could understand the timing being pulled to limit torque in the cold, very odd but do-able, however if the truck revs to redline you will have full boost, whatever that may be for your pulley setup be it stock or otherwise.

Very curious on what is really happening if indeed you say boost itself is not building on full throttle to redline pulls in certain temps. I guess the throttle could be closing but you nor any of the tuners have mentioned that yet so has that been logged during these scenarios?

boost can indeed be controlled. The Tacoma ECU loves to limit throttle. You can still have 0 boost at partial throttle 6000rpm.
I think it’s been understood when we talk about boost being limited we are talking about the ecu limiting the throttle body from opening all the way.

Gotcha, I have never seen it stated directly that the "issue" is the throttle closing. Hopefully the tuners here can find a way to tune around that as it is pretty common in most other makes of ECU tuning to indeed be able to isolate and control the drive by wire inputs outside of factory maps.

Bingo. ECU limits throttle. And yes absolute load is lower on the logs.

It might be better to let people know the text of that post, since they can help make it happen by expressing interest.
