You can always replace the pins with something more to your liking. Those do look fantastic, but the Oneups are really hard to beat.
The Deity Deftraps are also a great pedal, though composite. They haven't been as bulletproof as the Oneups for me though, which have required the least maintenance of any pedal I have run.

This should come with a disclaimer:
**After riding an ebike you may find yourself addicted and need to swallow any 'cheater, cheater' comments you may have made in the past.

Yes, I’d say dead on with true to size, and very comfy. No built in chamois but I use Pearl Izumi chamois liners.

    Never. It’s cheating :anonymous:

Nothing personal, you’re still my boy blue!

In all honestly I should look into the ones Yamaha makes. Prolly couldn’t get one right now though.

It's like anything you buy these days, "you get what you pay for". While the low cost is appealing it really is not meant to be used for much more than riding back and forth to school for kids. I would try and find something used with better components and better forks.

People told me the szme thing when i was looking but the issue is, i have no idea what to look for in a used bike. I ended up going new because it was easier to compare apples to apples. If you have a good local resource to help buy used, thats one thing but new seemed less risky to me.

Buddy of mine just showed up on our ride today with one. Got it at the local Yamaha dealership. Never found out what he paid for it though. Looked like a nice bike.

Be curious to hear his feedback on it. The availability to employees is slim to none right. I can only assume the same to be the case for bikes.

Finally have something to contribute to in this thread; recently rekindled my interested in mountain bikes so I've been on the hunt for a cheap dual suspension bike to get back on the local trails with after I rode a few times last fall on a way old and way too small hardtail. Picked up this 2010 Giant Trance X2 26" for $400. Should be a quick little project to get it where I want it and should be plenty enough for me.

I've been keeping my eyes out for good used deals too, but keep coming up short.
Having a hard time finding large sized frames on CL and the other local sites.
I'll check out that link though

If you already have a ride but want to upgrade, building your own is a great way to get you and your kid involved and more knowledgeable about what various components do and how to maintain them properly. Most of it is pretty straight forward and good bike shops should be willing to help. Taken as a whole it can seem overwhelming but each individual system is just some parts and some tools.

I like this idea! I was a BMX punk as a kid and always worked on all the neighborhood kids bikes and would flip beaters, it was fun.
I'm sure my son would get a kick out of building one from scratch.

Back in ‘08 I had a hardtail but rented FS to do Downieville and got the bug. Bought a Titus Motolite frame and spent 3 mos or so looking for deals on the parts I wanted on it. Every week was Christmas and so satisfying knowing it inside out. It’s not all top shelf but there’s nothing on it I didn’t consciously choose or had to accept as part of a package.
