Wordle - and other fun, addicting word games.

The other day I was minding my own business, perusing the “Any Woodworkers” thread, when a post from @98tacoma27 caught my eye. It was about a game called Wordle. Intrigued, I gave it a shot and was hooked within minutes. I thought I’d create a thread and spread the addiction.

What is Wordle?

Wordle is an online 5-letter word game. Each day a new word is released and players have six attempts to guess what the word of the day is. During the guesses, tiles will change color to help players get the word.

A grey letter means it isn’t in today’s word, while a yellow letter signals it is in the word but in the wrong position. Then there’s the green letter which means it’s in the word and in the right place.

If you correctly guess the word within the 6 attempts, then you win the game. If you win two days in a row or more, you automatically receive a winning streak. This keeps rolling over, unless you fail to guess the word one day and the streak is broken.

The links above don’t have ads for any spam, just free access to the game and nothing more. There is an app in the App Store, however it’s from a 3rd party and is riddled with obtrusive ads. It is poorly rated so I don’t recommend it.

For those who have played and have streaks - do you sign in or....? How does it keep track, day after day?

 

No account needed, it probably tracks via your IP. I always play on my phone in the chrome browser and my record is always there.

 

I play on my phone. I cleared my safari browser history and website data, Wordle stats were gone. Damn.

 

I'm working on it now, on the fourth line. Gotta admit, this one has me shaking my head. I may not understand the color coding because it doesn't seem possible to have a word with the remaining possibilities. I may take a screen shot, figure out how to do the Spoiler drop down and post it later for discussion. Anyone know how to do that?

I like it. It's my only "game" and I play 6 versions most days:
English, Spanish & French Wordles
Quordle (x4), WorLdle (countries), Nerdle (numbers)
