Looking if anyone can identify these stains. I have a 2013 Access Cab OR, M/T, V6. The stains are at the bottom right of the hood (battery side).

I just washed the underside of the hood for the first time in 10 years, and this splatter showed up one day after (yellowish brown). I know it doesn't look like a lot, but it wasn't there the day before. Kind of looks like oil?

Added a pic of the hood before washing too for reference, anyone know what would cause the black stains too?

Feel under your oil filter and see if the drain spout rubber cover is missing. Somebody may have forgot to put that back on after an oil and filter change.

You don't need that drain spout rubber cover. Attach a section of 5/16" id fuel line to the the filter drain nipple with a hose clamp long enough to have it drain into a pan during oil change and plug the end of the hose once done. My hose has been on for for 14 years... never had a drip on the floor.

Did you start the engine right after washing? It could just have slung some residue up there if it was still wet when you started it, I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you see no leaks.

I should clarify, I had the same stains on the hood prior to the wash as well, and since I have never washed the hood, I don't have a baseline for when it actually started. I do know there was fresh splatter the day after washing, so it seems that the splatter has been on-going. Dealer has always done my oil changes. Going to take some of the advice here and poke around, see if anything seems off !

The only thing I can think of in the area of the new stains that would blow up on the hood is the PCV hose could be leaking.
Those old stains look like maybe the belt is picking up some oil off something and slinging it around, power steering pump or crankshaft seal would be the first places I'd look there.
