That is ridiculous how some dealers try to screw people over. I did the same at Koons in Tysons....laughed at the guy and walked away making sure everyone knew he was an idiot.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)

The last time a dealer worked on my truck, they dumped fuel into the charcoal canister (easy to do when messing with the gas tank)

That was a 600 dollar part that they ate.

Chicago, yes. Anywhere outside of that cesspool, fine.

We'll have to figure something out, man. Where you're moving is about 100 miles south/southwest of me.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
There is a Michigan thread and you're about 4 hours from Grand Rapids and about 6 from Detroit. One of the guys in SW MI owns an after market shop and occasionally youtubes. They may know some Illinois people as well.

yep this summer with Caterpillar in Peoria, IL. Will be working on valve train stuff for their mid-size dozer engines. Sounds cool, but I'm worried it may be end up cookie cutter engineering desk job like when I worked for Cummins. Very similar type work, although my manager at CAT seemed a lot more enthusiastic about having an intern than the previous. In the past, I just haven't been good at finding something I really like doing :/. I do love big equipment and because CAT owns both the drivetrain and machine application side of things, I'm hoping there will be more to see on the application side. Whereas Cummins just built the engines and sent them to somewhere else for final build in a truck.

I digress, but I keep meaning to pick you brain about what you do for engineering when we're hanging out

imagine the obstacles we could make with one of these at the 3pooches farm! back when I used to make rocks

Hopefully the internship works out for you, at the very least it's a good resume builder. I took the thermo route instead of machine design, ended up designing HVAC systems out of college, now I'm just a project manager and glorified hand waiver, so not sure there's much left to pick in my brain.

Just selected my intern for the summer/year. He/She can work remotely, so I don't care where he lives. Always looking for a data scientist/systems engineering/materials science, etc.. if that helps. ($25 an hour and DoD Clearance). that is....I'll get them a clearance. lol

My younger brother is a senior at JMU, CS (Programming) and math minor.

If you are still looking, and care to share the details where he could apply, I'd appreciate it.
