The Graco power roller (on a HF Krause & Becker pump) was a bit much of an uncontrolled mess (priming etc.) for interiors so I recently got the Wagner Sidekick for a couple rooms. It cleans up easily (just put in garage sink and let it run water for a bit) and saves time, but most importantly it is a lot less annoying when you don't have to keep refreshing the roller. It 'just pumps' when you hit the button on the roller and doesn't need (possibly messy) priming like a real sprayer. I felt like it paid for itself the first time I tried it.

Today I learned that slab hollow core doors are 1/4" wider than a normal prehung door.

    :bananadead:

Guess tomorrow Ill be ripping 1/4" off the side of this thing.

Did that x6 over the last 6 weeks. Things learned:
    • Use a nice blade, 60+ tooth thin kerf crosscut
    • Score the cut line with a blade
    • Use a guide, don't try to free hand 7' of cut!
    • Masking tape on the topside of the cut
    • Cut 1/8 and test fit it. I thought I needed 1/4 off but that first door now has a nice gap of daylight.
    • Good luck!

Today I threw a 2nd coat of chalkboard paint on the pantry door & peeled off the masking tape. Not at all happy with the edges...maybe because I didn't pay the FrogTape tax? Regular Scotch blue tape....paint bled all under it, but randomly, like every couple feet there's a "vein" of paint that made its way up. And then because the 1st coat dried on top of the tape I had it peeling paint away in spots as I removed it. Maybe I should've scored it with a blade prior to peeling it? I'm thinking about getting a hobby brush and cleaning up the edges. Here's a pic, I won't zoom in on the edges for you critical animals to pick me apart!

LOL just for full disclosure that pic is from their website and my house still reps the 70's for better or worse, including some popcorn ceilings still.

Try peeling the tape maybe 10-15 minutes after applying the paint and before it dries completely. That will help with the paint peeling away in spots.

The other thing is either paying for higher quality tape, or making sure the edges are pressed down tight.

You can also caulk the tape edge. Smear it along the seam nicely and wipe off excess. Leaves a very clean line.
