Got all the music stuff unpacked and shelved. Found a lot of albums that brought back a lot of memories. After two years in this house, the music basement is ready to go. Unfortunately, kiddo just broke his arm, so he won't be playing guitar for a while. it will be good hand exercise for him when he's out of his cast.

That is an awesome room. Reminds me of the old days because of the wood paneling. I love it.

Yeah, I dig wood paneling. House was built in 1962. My wife doesn't like wood paneling. I managed to keep the basement paneling intact :)
Previous homeowners were retired Civil War reenactors who had hats & uniforms hanging from hooks on the wall all the way around the room.

Mine would be the same. She would literally be ripping it off the wall.

Every time I hear of civil war reenactors I think of South Park Schmore Schnapps.

You guys keep seeing how people are worried about tubes running out? I honestly have never had to replace a tube, but it does kinda suck. I am betting there a solid state replacements for tubes though other then solid state amps.

You mean, in relation to *the thing we cannot speak about on this forum*? True, a lot of our vacuum tube supply has come from over there. I've heard some domestic manufacturers are coming back online, likely as high-end suppliers. We'll also likely see Chinese vacuum tubes, already used in many price point tube amps. Kicking myself for selling a whole box of vintage tubes a couple years ago with a Bogen amp. I haven't bought tubes in a decade. My 2006 Deluxe Reverb is still running on original tubes.

Didn't realize it was the thing we shant not speak of. What eva.

Yeah, I have only ever bought one tube and I never used it. I am not really too worried about it. I got two tubes amps and one hyrid. I mostly use my little Peavey Rage the most just because it right there and doesn't piss my gf off when I am cracking the plaster on the walls.

Man, there is all sorts of shit I got rid of I wish I still have haha!

I've been in a couple of threads here that were sanitized for talking about international events. Man, the Peavey Rage is such a great little go-to amp! I found myself trying to remember every piece of gear I've had over the years and couldn't remember all of it so I started trying to document what I can remember on a spreadsheet.

I bought my Friedman Runt 50 used and I've cooked the tubes overnight SEVERAL times on accident. I've owned the amp for years. (4 maybe?) The tubes are still perfectly fine.

That's good to know. They do last. With what I do, I don't think I will ever have to replace any (knock on wood).

That's sweet man. Yeah, I bought it more just out of having it as a teenager. I love looking over in my studio and seeing one. That old school look. For what it is it's sounds good. I have to replace the speaker on mine and it transformed it. Less than $100 total for everything invested.

I used to have this what I think was a Harmony that looked like a strat, I have never been able to figure out what it was. That was my first guitar. If I ever figure it out I will track it down. I bought it in a tiny music store in Clare Michigan in the 90s. It was the towns record / music store run by this old lady. She was amazing. Bought Smashing Pumpkins Pisces Iscariot looking for anything by them. That's what she had. I was the Siamese Dream days, but in the 90s you couldn't always get what you want. I miss those times.

As far as tubes go, was thinking why aren't companies like say Fender, Gibson, or Marshal trying to build a factory domestically somewhere to make tubes? They stand to loose the most if tubes get scarce.

    Great point…..
I’m still fascinated of the process in which tubes are built. I wonder who thought them up, and how in the hell that the idea was born.

I thought Fender owned Groove Tubes. This link confirms it. I *thought* Groove Tubes simply took Electro-Harmonix/SOVTEK tubes, tested, matched, paired, re-stamped and repackaged them for domestic sale. This forum link confirms it. Groove Tubes buys from the 3-4 manufacturers.

I don't think those are made locally anymore. I getting mixed answers. Some say China, some Mexico, some Yogoslavia, and Russia. But they used to be based in California.

They did make a domestic 6L6 based on the GE tubes but it looks like Fender moved production to Mexico when they bought them out in 2008.

The strumming on Bob Seger's Night moves is more technical that I expected when I checked the tabs. Sounds about right. Songsterr isn't always accurate.

This what you guys are playing?

Hey guys, my brother-in-law just bought this at a local pawn shop. He paid $85.00.

Are there Fender knock-offs, or did he get a good deal? I did a little internet searching and it seems this would be worth more unless it's a fake. It has almost no wear and tear. The paint has some "fish-eye" in it on the back side, but otherwise seems pretty decent.

the headstock is usually the giveaway for aficionados. I haven’t bought a fender in 15 years so I’m not up to date on variants.

Neither my BIL or me know jack about guitars. Both just beginners. Even though it says "Made in USA", we figured either Chinesium, or it is a Fender but they make a cheap version of their popular models.

Maybe these will help someone answer:
