Can anyone tell me if the 2022 V6 is exactly the same as the 2021? I am looking at a K&N intake and a Banks pedal monster but neither list the 22 as yet. Thanks.

I suspected as much. Thanks. This is my very first Taco. Love it.
Also reasonable to assume the 19 is the same? Found a good deal on the intake..

I would suggest sticking with the factory style filters. Not much to gain with a K&N like we use to in older vehicles.

OK, thank you. Good to know. It only has 7000 kms (Canada) on it, so no need to go crazy yet.. I'll skip the intake and maybe just get the pedal monster. Stock throttle response is rather lacking...

I’d be considering a tune if I was you, throttle response isn’t the only thing that’s lacking…
I bought mine new last August, drove it for 10,000 kms hoping it would magically get better! Had a tune for the last 5000 kms, should’ve done it from the start.

There are a lot of local tuners...I chose KDMax and love it! Much better throttle response and better shift points.

Throttle response and shift points are what I am chasing.. Any of the 'hand held' tuners recommended?

all a k&n filter does is reduce your filtration capacity.

K&Ns are a waste. Put one on my mustang 5.0 and made no noticeable difference. Sold it on EBay and went back to stock. They are a actually more maintenance as you have to clean and oil them. They are as useful as putting racing stickers on the Windows.

Oh come on, a K&N will definitely increase the amount of dirt your engine will ingest; that has to be good for something, right?

Dont know why people buy those kinds of products, they are practically a scam on modern vehicles.

    True to a point.

I actually installed a K&N on my '97 Taco within a month of taking ownership of it when it was brand new.

The filter will eventually get to the point where it filters about the same or better than a factory style filter so long as you don't clean it too often.

I can honestly say that I have only taken it out and knocked the bugs, leaves and dust monkeys out of it most of it's life. I don't think I've actually cleaned and reoiled it more than a handful of times.

The truck now has 250k miles on it, and it still has that same filter installed. Engine doesn't use a drop of oil in my 7k mile oil changes.

Having said that, I originally purchased the K&N on the hype of performance gains. I have no valuable data to support any change in performance, but can say that I have saved a lot of money in disposable filters over the past 25 years.

These newer motors are finicky with all the added sensors and stuff, and the filter oil has a better chance of fouling the MAF sensor. Not worth it to me.

Instead of getting that expensive intake, look at an HPS intake tube and put on an air accellerator where the stock intake is in the fender. Also, I second the vote on the KDMax pro tune. You will not be disapointed. Look for the KDMax Pro thread on here and you can probably get the attention of the closeset tuner. Best upgrade these trucks can get.
