I felt the need to buy a mattress for a new bed not too long ago. Used to be that you had to go into the salesroom, lay down in a bunch of different beds while listening to the salesman talk about all the little things for each one, then ultimately they try to corner you into not walking out the door without having bought one - successful or not, it's often frustrating. It's 2022, there are plenty of online-only mattress vendors, and there are a fair amount of resources for comparing different mattresses across the board. I know the type of sleeper I am, I knew what I wanted out of my mattress, and I did my research online. Turns out, the mattress that had what I wanted for a good price was from one of those online-only vendors of good repute. Bought it, saved enough money on that purchase vs. buying something in a salesroom that I could buy the rest of the bed accessories for the difference, and I've slept easy ever since.

That experience summarizes what I'd like out of buying a new vehicle. I generally know what I want & what I'm looking for, and I want to shop around without BS to find a good deal for it. If I really can't find a better price, then fair enough - it's on me to decide if it's worth the purchase or not. I look to save money because I can do more with the money saved, like making the vehicle better, getting an extra side of fries with that drive thru order, or whatever the hell else I wanna do. I don't need someone breathing down my neck for hours trying to gaslight me into thinking I want something I don't need. And I certainly don't think I'm stealing from the plates of a salesman's kids by finding the right price.

While I don't tell the dealership till we have agreed upon a price, I pay cash. Once in finance I ask will they take a personal check or do they need a cashier check. I just pay myself a car payment through the years. When I am ready for a new ride, I have the cash to pay for it.

You should've shopped around probably. Everyone's cutting corners. Kind of sucks. Go EV.
