Morning y'all. I'm starting to plan my spring and summer camping trips.

Does anyone know of any good camp spots near or on rivers for some fishing? Bonus points if they're not paid/reserved spots. I know there are a bunch of established camping spots on pullouts out near Deckers but less developed would be tight!

i used to Camp up on Vasquez road to to fish the Fraiser. Most of the river is private but there are some good spots still. Also some good spot on the Taylor outside of Crested Butte. I do most camping in BV or Salida but dont fish much since we are normally rafting

How far you willing to drive past Deckers? You’ll mostly need to make a reservation soon. Things fill up extremely quickly now a days

I'll take a recommendation anywhere in the state! Closer to Boulder would be tight but I'm not picky.

Received an email from Gaia GPS this morning about using Gaia Topo maps to find and reserve established/government campsites: https://blog.gaiagps.com/campsite-reservations/

Thought I'd pass this along to y'all in case anyone found it useful!

i try not to spend nights in pay campgounds, but that's a slick feature. recreation.gov now has a mobile app as well. the wave is using that for their new "in-person" lottery system using geofencing to allow you to partake using the app without actually being at the BLM office as in the past, https://www.blm.gov/press-release/blm-enhance-permitting-process-wave-coyote-buttes-north .. not CO Camping related but on the topic of recreation.gov and "new" tech coming into play

I can see y'all didn't miss the "sharing means caring" lesson in pre-school.

As for me, there's no way in hell I'm posting my favorite camping spots on TW. Hard enough to find solitude here as it is.

You don't want to show up to your favorite spot and find 20 tacos already jammed in there? :(

Why are you camping in the ski resort parking lot during Texas spring break?
