Anyone with a 2007 Taco had their frame replaced under warranty recently?

According to article it listed 2005-2010 models have 12-15 years for coverage but does not state which model years are 12 or 15 years.

2007 is no longer within warranty coverage. It is 12 years.

Your options are patch plates, buy a frame out of pocket, or get rid of the truck.

I tried to cover it with some duck tape where it was bad. Also the holes that are built into frame around where upper CATs are taped over those to try to not allow water to get in.
Around the upper CATs where frame bends down is where it is usually the worst right?

Personally, I would've went with the stronger gorilla duct tape.

Well you know still going through some R&D first.

I know the seam welds that run the length will still get water in between.
But really guys if I tape up the bottom how can water get in around the weird bend area near upper CATs.

Or couldn't i just use that foam stuff they sell at hardware store that expands to fill up empty space?

None of those "fixes" are going to add back the strength that was lost as the metal corroded. Taping over the rust so you can't see it doesn't fix anything nor does it stop rust from continuing. Filling the box sections with spray foam will not stop rust that has already started. Remember, as the frame continues to corrode, it continues to lose strength. Sooner or later you will have a major safety issue on your hands. And you may not find out how serious it is until you have an accident - and your truck folds up like a piece of paper.

Ok but will taping over holes that were already there (those not formed by rust) keep more water from getting up in the section by the Upper CATs?

Im trying to at least slow it down and prevent more water from getting up in there.

From the factory the thing has at least 2 holes directly to across from tranny and also a hole in the bottom.

Why someone would design frame this way is beyond me.

Unfortunately, the only thing that can slow down (not stop) corrosion that has already started is the total elimination of oxygen. As you might guess, that's pretty much impossible to do. Plugging off holes in the frame might actually accelerate corrosion since it will trap moisture in there. Remember, it's not just water splashing up in there that causes problems. Condensation is also an issue.

The best thing you can do is Fluid Film the living crap out of the areas.

That would be up to the guy welding it.
You shouldn’t have too. But doing the top weld will be tight.
You’ll almost certainly need to get the converter out of the way.
And remove the brake lines and other stuff attached to the frame.

You don’t have to use the whole plate.
You could cut of the part you need and just just that.
It depends how bad your frame is.

Amazing that Toyota won’t get on top of this shitty frame thing.

    Get this...

I went in to the dealer to get new U Joints as there is a recall for them, and I could feel it.
They are going to do new U joints, new cat (also a recall), and also replace the frame.
Considering I bought the truck off Offer Up 2 years ago, I couldn't be happier.
Go to the dealer and as for a frame rust check. The guy told me some shops don't want to do it, so I would try 3 before I call it quits.
    Good Luck!

You are receiving a new frame because you're (barely) within the 12 year replacement window...OP is not. The only thing having 3 dealers perform a frame rust check will do is have 3 dealers tell him he's shit out of luck being outside the 12 year window (and probably charge him for the inspection as well).

^This...and/or go the patch plate route like @TnShooter mentioned, including touchup/restoring any other areas that are rusted but not requiring patching.

My frame was inspected once by a dealer but they said it was fine, unfortunately you can never take a dealership for their word though. Handyman I would think it might be good idea to take to another dealer too.
I am not convinced they looked inside the boxed area near the CATs if they had im not sure there could not be rust there of course the inspection was probably about 5 years ago now.
Anyone know if they use a borescope to view the inside of frame because thats where its rusting inside out.

Also TNSHooter where can this info be found i read 12-15 years you said 2007 year was only 12 years some which years are 12-15 as in which year models are covered 15 years?
Also if you are not in a "salt state" were the dealerships still required to apply anti-corrosion treatment because they never did that for me.

There is only one program and it only covers you for "12 years from the first in-service date" - period. There are no exceptions.

What is the first in service date, the date of manufacture? The date of the last inspection ?

Date the truck registered to the first owner.

You are way out of range, even if it was the last 07 produced
