I have never bought brand new tires for a vehicle, ever. I put a LOT of miles on my truck on a daily, between city and back roads..what are my best options?

I think the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4s are a really solid choice, price point is pretty cheap and they are a proven performer on/off road as well. I have them on my 2000 and they are doing exactly how I was told they'd be.

The coopers don't really last. I burnt through mine quite quickly. They had great performance but durability and longevity weren't the strong points. I'm talking 30,000km (20,000 miles?) and they were at 6/32nd.

Tires like the firestone LE2 are more ideal for lots of miles.

You say back roads, are they paved or gravel?

I loved my Wildpeak AT3W's. I'd buy another set in a heartbeat. That said, I hear pricing has gone up so they may not be the killer deal they used to be.
